This last month has been busy. I’m packing to move to a better location. My son wants me where he is because I don’t have a car. I found a wonderful apartment building, newly built last year and targeted for low income. I needed to contact Housing to fill out more paperwork so I could move into that building. Since then, I have been packing like a mad woman. I’m hoping to hear from Housing and the apartment manager soon about my move. I’ll need to pay the application fee and deposit, choose my apartment – the last time I talked to her there were three available, and wait for Housing to inspect the apartment before I can move in. Lots of waiting. Something I’m not good at.
This past month I also worked on two books to edit for publishing next year, and writing three books. One I hope to finish soon, but it’s stalled at the moment. I’ll finish it, no worries. It’s part of a four-book series.
This last month also saw two book events. One here where I live. The president of Social Club invited me to do an author presentation. It went super well and I sold six books. I also sold my entire first series to a friend the day before the event, and another to a member of the Book Club. Eleven in all. Last Saturday was an author event in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, about an hour north of Green Bay, Wisconsin. I sold another nine books, bringing my total to twenty books in the past couple of weeks. I’m very happy.
Today, I won’t have much time for books or packing. I have a funeral to go to for a cousin. It’s the third cousin funeral in as many years. Instead of hearing news about my mother’s sister and brother who are still very much alive, my cousins, younger than I are passing away. It’s sad how life treats us.
Yesterday, I had a whoo hoo moment. I had bought a mattress for my new bed, and planned to get a refund for it as they were charging delivery fees I can’t afford. When I walked into the store, the person I talked to the first time I was there, worked with me. When I told him I wanted a refund, he waived the delivery charge. When I told him I’m a Navy Veteran, he took more off the price of the mattress with their current Veteran’s Day sale going on. When all was said and done, I didn’t need to pay the tax for the mattress with the new lower price, instead I’ll get a small refund when they deliver the mattress. I told the gentleman I didn’t have a move date yet. He said no worries to call him when I do. So, I didn’t need to refund the mattress. I have the new bedframe in the box in my apartment.
My new apartment has no carpeting except in the bedroom and has a washer and dryer in the apartment. It’s slightly smaller than what I have now, but that’s okay. I planned to downsize, starting with my king size bed. My new bed will be full size. I’m only one person. I don’t need a king size bed. I’m also getting rid of other pieces of furniture I will no longer need or have room for. However, my six bookcases and all my books are going with.
I will need to find a new place to walk when I move. There aren’t any trails nearby as there is here. However, there is a park about a block away, and Lambeau Field is two blocks away. I think I’ll be able to hear when the Packers have a home game.
That’s the excitement in my life. I have a lot to look forward to as God orchestrates my move as He’s done from the beginning.
Thanks for reading. Have a blessed day.
Valerie
