Day 323 – It is Well
2 Kings 4:8 Now it happened one day that Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a notable woman, and she persuaded him to eat food. So it happened, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat food.
9 She said to her husband, “Look now, I know this is a holy man of Elohiym, who passes by us regularly. 10 Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, with a table, a chair, and a lampstand; then it will happen, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.”
11 It happened one day that he came there and turned into the upper room and lay down there.
12 Then he said to Gehazi his servant, “Call this Shunammite woman.” When he had called her, she stood before him. 13 He said to him, “Say now to her, ‘Look, you have been concerned for us with all this care. What can I do for you? Do you want me to speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’”
She answered, “I dwell among my people.”
14 Then he said, “What then can be done for her?”
Gehazi answered, “She has no son, and her husband is old.”
15 Then he said, “Call her.” When he had called her, she stood in the doorway. 16 Then he said, “About this time next year you will embrace a son.”
She said, “No, my JEHOVAH. Man of Elohiym, do not lie to your maidservant!”
17 However, the woman conceived and bore a son when the appointed time had come, of which Elisha had told her.
18 The child grew. Now it happened one day that he went out to his father, to the reapers. 19 He said to his father, “My head, my head!”
Then he said to a servant, “Carry him to his mother.”
20 When he had taken him and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.
21 She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of Elohiym, shut the door upon him, and went out.
22 Then she called to her husband, and said, “Please send me one of the young men and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of Elohiym and come back.”
23 He said, “Why are you going to him today? It is neither the New Moon nor the Sabbath.”
She said, “It is well.”
24 Then she saddled a donkey, and said to her servant, “Drive, and go forward; do not slacken the pace for me unless I tell you.”
25 Thus, she departed and went to the man of Elohiym at Mount Carmel. It happened, when the man of Elohiym saw her afar off, he said to his servant Gehazi, “Look, the Shunammite woman! 26 Please run to meet her, and say to her, ‘Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?’”
She answered, “It is well.”
27 Now when she came to the man of Elohiym at the hill, she caught him by the feet, but Gehazi came near to push her away. However, the man of Elohiym said, “Let her alone; for her soul is in deep distress, and JEHOVAH has hidden it from me, and has not told me.”
28 Then she said, “Did I ask a son of my JEHOVAH? Did I not say, ‘Do not deceive me’?”
29 Then he said to Gehazi, “Get yourself ready, and take my staff in your hand, and be on your way. If you meet anyone, do not greet him; and if anyone greets you, do not answer him; but lay my staff on the face of the child.”
30 The mother of the child said, “As JEHOVAH lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” Then he arose and followed her.
31 Now Gehazi went on ahead of them and laid the staff on the face of the child; but there was neither voice nor hearing. Therefore, he went back to meet him, and told him, saying, “The child has not awakened.”
32 When Elisha came into the house, there was the child, lying dead on his bed. 33 He went in therefore, shut the door behind the two of them, and prayed to JEHOVAH. 34 He went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands; and he stretched himself out on the child, and the flesh of the child became warm. 35 He returned and walked back and forth in the house, and again went up and stretched himself out on him; then the child sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.
36 He called Gehazi and said, “Call this Shunammite woman.” Then he called her. When she came in to him, he said, “Pick up your son.”
37 She went in, fell at his feet, and bowed to the ground; then she picked up her son and went out.

God’s character:
Resurrection and Life
When someone does something wonderful for you, you want to do the same for them in return. However, it doesn’t always turn out as you expect.
In his travels, Elisha often traveled through the town where a wealthy Shunammite woman lived. She persuaded him to eat with them, then talked with her husband about adding a room for him when he came to them. Her generosity affected Elisha, and he wanted to do something for her that only Elohiym could provide. His servant told him she didn’t have a child. When Elisha told her she would bear a son, she told him not to deceive her. However, she had a son as Elisha told her. One day, her son became ill and died. She placed him on Elisha’s bed and ran to him. When Elisha learned what happened, he sent Gehazi ahead of him and then went into him when he arrived at her home. With prayer and supplication to Elohiym, the boy lived, and he returned him to his mother.
In her anguish, her faith was strong. She told her husband all was well when she asked for a servant and donkey to go to Elisha. When she came to Elisha, she told him all was well. She believed he could revive her son.
As Christians, do you have the same faith as the Shunammite woman who told her husband and Elisha that everything was well when you feel dead inside? Or do you complain about your woes and accept that nothing ever went right for you before, why would it now?
Before you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you were dead in trespasses and sin. Your life might have looked like you had everything you needed, but you lacked one thing, salvation. As a child of Elohiym, Satan does everything he can to convince you that your salvation was a lie. You are still dead in trespasses and sin. You need to do what the Shunammite woman did and tell yourself it is well, and trust Yeshuwa to revive you and resurrect in you a new life free from the bondage Satan wants to inflict on you.
Ephesians 2:1 You He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 However, Theos, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christos (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christos Iesous, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christos Iesous.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christos Iesous for good works, which Theos prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
When the Shunammite woman bore a son, he was JEHOVAH’S workmanship. JEHOVAH had a purpose for her son. However, he died, not to destroy his mother’s faith, but to secure it and cause it to become greater than it was.
When you turn your dead faith into the living faith Christos has for you, you will see His hand working in your life. He will revive you and show you your purpose and the plan He has for your life.
Yeshuwa has a plan for your life. You need to trust Him to instill life into you and cause your faith to become strong so you can say as the Shunammite woman did, ‘It is well’.
Let’s pray: Father, help me say, ‘It is well’ when Satan attacks my faith to destroy it. Show me Your plan for my life and restore my life in You and make my faith stronger as You work in me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
