Day 326 – Help

2 Kings 6:1 The sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us. 2 Please, let us go to the Jordan, and let every man take a beam from there, and let us make a place where we may dwell.”

  He answered, “Go.”

3 Then one said, “Please consent to go with your servants.”

  He answered, “I will go.”

4 Then he went with them. When they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees. 5 However, as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed.”

6 The man of Elohiym said, “Where did it fall?” He showed him the place. Then he cut off a stick and threw it in there; and made the iron float.

7 Therefore, he said, “Pick it up for yourself.” Then he reached out his hand and took it.

God’s names:

Elohiym – Supreme God

Yeshuwa – Jesus

Theos – Supreme Divinity

Iesous – Jesus

Christos – Anointed One, Messiah

God’s character:

Helper

When people start large projects, they work with other people who can help them complete the work. They know they cannot complete the work alone.

The prophets came to Elisha and told them they needed to move because the place they lived was too small for them. When they came to the place near the Jordan and began building their new home, a man lost his ax head in the river. Elisha took a branch and threw it in the river and the ax head floated.

For the people at that time, what Elisha did was a miracle. Iron didn’t float. Now, thousands of years later, you know iron can float and does with the many ships built for the navies around the world.

However, it wasn’t about the iron floating, it was the fact Elisha trusted Elohiym to bring the ax head to the surface so they could continue building their new home.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as your Savior and Lord, you committed yourself to Him and promised to trust Him for your needs. However, too often you go it alone, trusting only yourself to get the task done. Yeshuwa never meant for you to go it alone. He expects you to ask for help from other Christians. He expects you to ask Him for help. When you do, He will provide the people necessary to help you with the task He gave you.

When the man asked Elisha for help with the ax head, Elisha trusted Elohiym for His help and He gave it, giving back the ax head so the man could continue with his work.

Yeshuwa will supply all your needs, not only the necessities.

Philippians 4:19 And my Theos will supply everything you need according to His riches in glory by Christos Iesous.

Yeshuwa’s promise to you is that He will provide everything you need. You only need to trust Him and believe His promises.

Let’s pray: Father, too often I try to do Your work without help. Help me to not only trust You for the work You give me, but also for the help to get the work done. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
