Day 327 – Protection

1 Kings 6:8 Now the king of Syria was making war against Israel; and he consulted with his servants, saying, “My camp will be in such and such a place.”

9 The man of Elohiym sent to the king of Israel, saying, “Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are coming down there.”

10 Then the king of Israel sent someone to the place of which the man of Elohiym had told him. Thus, he warned him, and he was watchful there, not just once or twice.

11 Therefore, the heart of the king of Syria was greatly troubled by this thing; and he called his servants and said to them, “Will you not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?”

12 One of his servants said, “None, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words you speak in your bedroom.”

13 Then he said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him.”

They told him, saying, “Surely he is in Dothan.”

14 Therefore, he sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city.

15 When the servant of the man of Elohiym arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. His servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What will we do?”

16 He answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

17 Elisha prayed, and said, “JEHOVAH, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then JEHOVAH opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. Behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha.

18 When the Syrians came down to him, Elisha prayed to JEHOVAH, and said, “Strike this people, I pray, with blindness.” He struck them with blindness according to the words of Elisha. 19 Now Elisha said to them, “This is not the way, nor is this the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek.” However, he led them to Samaria.

20 Thus, it was, when they had come to Samaria, Elisha said, “JEHOVAH, open the eyes of these men, that they may see.” JEHOVAH opened their eyes, and they saw; and there they were, inside Samaria!

21 Now when the king of Israel saw them, he said to Elisha, “My father, will I kill them? Will I kill them?”

22 However, he answered, “You will not kill them. Would you kill those whom you have taken captive with your sword and your bow? Set food and water before them, that they may eat and drink and go to their master.”

23 Then he prepared a great feast for them; and after they ate and drank, he sent them away and they went to their master. Thus, the bands of Syrian raiders came no more into the land of Israel.

God’s names:

Elohiym – Supreme God

Yeshuwa – Jesus

Elyown – Supreme, Most High

God’s character:

Revealer

Protector

What do you do when life doesn’t work out and you feel like everyone, and everything is against you? Do you start questioning those around you for answers? Do you start blaming the people you work with, your friends, neighbors, and family members only to find out your trouble came from an outside source?

The king of Syria set up ambushes in their war with Israel. However, Elisha told the king where the king of Syria set up ambushes and sent scouts to investigate and every time what Elisha told him proved true. When the king of Syria learned Elisha was at fault, he sent his soldiers against him. Instead of killing Elisha, Elisha asked JEHOVAH to strike the soldiers with blindness and led them into the middle of Samaria. When He opened their eyes and saw where they were, Elisha told the king to feed them and send them home.

As Christians, Satan sets up ambushes against you every day. When you trust in Yeshuwa to protect you, He will do the same for you as He did for Elisha. He will surround you with His angels to protect you and defeat every plan Satan brings against you. Satan stands defeated and the only thing he can do is retreat.

Many Christians are like Elisha’s servant. They can’t see the help Yeshuwa provides because they don’t spend time in Bible study and prayer. They only see the trouble Satan brings them. When you spend time with Yeshuwa every day, reading His Word, praying, giving encouragement to other believers, you will see the legions of angels ready to defeat Satan’s plans. You may not see them with your eyes, but you will know they are there because Satan will flee in defeat. Not one of his plans will happen against you. The more time you spend in the Word and prayer, the more power you have against Satan.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says JEHOVAH, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and hope.

James 4:7 Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of Elyown will abide under the shadow of Shadday.

2 I will say of JEHOVAH, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My Elohiym, in Him I will trust.”

3 He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.

4 He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will take refuge; His truth will be your shield and buckler.

5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you.

8 Only with your eyes shall you look and see the reward of the wicked.

9 Because you made JEHOVAH, who is my refuge, Even Elyown, your dwelling place, 10 no evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your dwelling; 11 for He will give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.

12 In their hands they will bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.”

You have nothing to fear when you put your faith and trust in Yeshuwa to deliver you from every plan Satan brings against you.

Let’s pray: Father, help me see Your strength and help when Satan comes against me to destroy my faith. Let me see him flee in full retreat because You are my Savior and Lord. You are my helper in time of need. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 11 December 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux
