Day 336 – Repairs

2 Kings 12:1 In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash became king, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba.

2 Jehoash did what was right in the sight of JEHOVAH throughout the days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

3 However, the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

4 Jehoash said to the priests, “The money of the dedicated gifts brought into the house of the JEHOVAH—each man’s census money, each man’s assessment money—and the money a man purposes in his heart to bring into the house of JEHOVAH, 5 let the priests take it themselves, each from his constituency; and let them repair the damages of the temple, wherever any dilapidation is found.”

6 Now, it happened, by the twenty-third year of King Jehoash, that the priests had not repaired the damages of the temple.

7 Then King Jehoash called Jehoiada the priest and the other priests, and said to them, “Why have you not repaired the damages of the temple? Now, therefore, do not take more money from your constituency, but deliver it for repairing the damages of the temple.”

8 The priests agreed that they would neither receive more money from the people, nor repair the damages of the temple.

9 Then Jehoiada the priest took a chest, bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into the house of JEHOVAH; and the priests who kept the door put the money brought into the house of JEHOVAH.

10 Thus, it happened, whenever they saw much money in the chest, the king’s scribe and the high priest came up and put it in bags, and counted the money found in the house of JEHOVAH.

11 Then they gave the money, which had been apportioned, into the hands of those who did the work, who had the oversight of the house of JEHOVAH; and they paid it out to the carpenters and builders who worked on the house of JEHOVAH, 12 and to masons and stonecutters, and for buying timber and hewn stone, to repair the damage of the house of JEHOVAH, and for everything paid out to repair the temple.

13 However, basins of silver, trimmers, sprinkling-bowls, trumpets, articles of gold or articles of silver, came not from the money brought into the house of JEHOVAH for the house of JEHOVAH.

14 They gave it to the workmen, and they repaired the house of JEHOVAH with it.

15 Moreover, they did not require an account from the men into whose hand they delivered the money paid to workmen, for they dealt faithfully.

16 The money from the trespass offerings and the money from the sin offerings was not brought into the house of JEHOVAH. It belonged to the priests.

17 Hazael king of Syria went up and fought against Gath and took it; then Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

18 Jehoash king of Judah took the sacred things his fathers, Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own sacred things, and the gold found in the treasuries of the house of JEHOVAH and in the king’s house, and sent them to Hazael king of Syria. Then he went away from Jerusalem.

19 Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and everything he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

20 His servants arose and formed a conspiracy, and killed Joash in the house of the Millo, which goes down to Silla.

21 For Jozachar the son of Shimeath and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him. Thus, he died, and they buried him with his fathers in the City of David. Then Amaziah, his son reigned in his place.

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Sacred

When people build or renovate their homes or businesses, they count the cost and search for dependable people to do the work.

King Jehoash also Joash, told the priests to repair the temple when he reigned seven years. However, the work didn’t start until he confronted the priests when he had reigned twenty-three years. Then they collected the money and gave it to the workmen. The priests didn’t account for the money they gave the workmen because they were faithful in their work.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you became His temple. You needed repair. The cost of repairs for your temple were paid on the cross in blood. JEHOVAH didn’t count the cost for the repairs to your temple. He knew you were worth the cost.

When you read and study your Bible, you see what you need to repair in your temple. When you sit in church and hear a sermon, or attend a Bible study, you hear what repairs you need to make. However, you don’t always start work on those repairs right away. You wait and hope the repairs will fix themselves. It isn’t until you realize you can’t repair your temple without Yeshuwa that you start the repairs. You will always find repairs are necessary to live a godly life in Yeshuwa. Satan will work to destroy the repairs you make. Sometimes it doesn’t seem like much work is being done, but when you trust the Carpenter with the repair work, He will complete those repairs, and your temple will be a thing of beauty. However, you won’t see the results of the work until you see Him face to face.

What repairs do you need to make in your temple? Turn your temple over to the Workman, and He will repair your temple until it becomes a thing of beauty. Don’t worry about the cost. He already took care of the cost on the cross.

Let’s pray: Father, my temple needs repair. Thank you for sending the Workman to repair my temple and make it shine for Your glory. I don’t want to wait a moment longer for repairs to begin. Let me trust You for the repairs and see Your work in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
