List five things you do for fun.

The dictionary definition for fun is enjoyment, amusement, or lighthearted pleasure.

Everyone has a different idea of fun or amusement. For me, fun means spending time with friends playing a game of Canasta, it’s reading a good book with lots of twists and turns in it to keep the mind active, it’s walking barefoot along a beach in summer, it’s writing the next American best-seller, it’s being alone listening to the birds as they squack in the trees outside my apartment or watching a good movie. There are many things I enjoy doing, but I don’t always have the ability to do what I enjoy most.

Life has taken some of my joys from me. I don’t live close to a beach to walk barefoot in summer. A walk along the trail is the best I can do. Seeing nature in the pond, the colorful leaves in fall, the rush of the creek, and an occasional deer need to make up for what I can’t do.

Reading has become a challenge for my eyes. I love to read, but reading now isn’t what it used to be, reading until I finished a book. Now, it’s cut into increments so I don’t stress my eyes. The computer changed my reading. I can change the font size for better reading and writing.

I still spend time alone watching television, listening to nature, creating the next best-seller. I also spend time with a neighbor going wherever and doing whatever.

I also love to cook and bake. I like coming up with new recipes for both. I rarely used a cookbook. I enjoy creating.

My new joys are rock painting with friends, playing Canasta, spending time with new virtual friends on a blog site and here, learning about cultures from around the world. Writing will always be a passion. So will reading in whatever means I can. And I will enjoy nature in every season.

That’s what I love to do. There might be more than five here and there are a few I didn’t mention. I’ll save those for another day under another topic.

Thanks for reading.
