Do you need a break? From what?

Everyone needs a break from life. We do so much every day that our minds become overwhelmed with everything we do and we want to call a halt to everything.

Constant motion causes anxiety. As shown in the picture above from the You Version Bible App, you need to cast your anxiety on Jesus. Take a break. Sit still. Close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths. Do something other than what you are doing. Take a break from your regular routine and slow down.

When you take a break, you will find everything easier to handle. You will have cleared your mind of the chaos so you can think clearly to take the steps you need to accomplish the task at hand.

How do you take a break?

  1. Read a book. Get away from the computer and turn your mind to other things such as reading.
  2. Take a vacation. Get away for a day, weekend, or a couple of weeks to rest, relax, and unwind from the rush of your every day life.
  3. Visit friends. When you do, you might be just what they need to take care of the chaos in their lives. It will also let them push the pause button for a few minutes or hours.
  4. Go shopping. I know many people don’t like shopping. However, when you walk into a store, not with the intention of buying, but looking, you will give your mind something else to focus on rather than the deadline you need to meet.
  5. Go to a museum. When you take time to browse through history, you avert your mind from the chaos the world is handing you and focusing it on something else.
  6. Go to the beach. There is nothing more relaxing than being at the beach. Even if you can’t take more than a few minutes, it’s all you need to refocus and rekindle your life and bring balance to a world of chaos.

There are so many things you can do to take a break. Most importantly, slow down. Do something different. It will make a world of difference to your life.
