Day 23 – Actions
2 Chronicles 21:1 Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the City of David. Then Jehoram, his son reigned in his place. 2 He had brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azaryahu, Michael, and Shephatiah; these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel. 3 Their father gave them great gifts of silver and gold and precious things, with fortified cities in Judah; but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram, because he was the firstborn. 4 Now when Jehoram established himself over the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself and killed his brothers with the sword, and others of the princes of Israel. 5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. 6 He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for he had the daughter of Ahab as a wife; and did evil in the sight of JEHOVAH. 7 Yet JEHOVAH would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant He had made with David, and since He promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever.
8 In his days the Edomites revolted against Judah’s authority and made a king over themselves. 9 Thus, Jehoram went out with his officers, and his chariots with him. He rose by night and attacked the Edomites who surrounded him and the captains of the chariots.
10 Thus Edom revolted against Judah’s authority to this day. At that time Libnah revolted against his rule, because he had forsaken JEHOVAH Elohiym of his fathers.
11 Moreover, he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit harlotry, and led Judah astray.
12 A letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, ‘Thus says JEHOVAH Elohiym of your father David: Because you walked not in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah, 13 but walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot like the harlotry of the house of Ahab, and also killed your brothers, those of your father’s household, who were better than yourself, 14 behold, JEHOVAH will strike your people with a serious affliction—your children, your wives, and your possessions; 15 and you will become sick with a disease of your intestines, until your intestines come out by reason of the sickness, day by day.’
16 Moreover, JEHOVAH stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and the Arabians who were near the Ethiopians. 17 They came into Judah and invaded it and carried away the possessions found in the king’s house, and his sons and his wives, so that there was not a son left to him except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
18 After this JEHOVAH struck him in his intestines with an incurable disease. 19 Then it happened in the course of time, after the end of two years, that his intestines came out because of his sickness; thus, he died in severe pain. His people made no burning for him, like the burning for his fathers.
20 He was thirty-two years old when he became king. He reigned in Jerusalem eight years and, to no one’s sorrow, departed. However, they buried him in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Elohiym – Supreme God
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
Hagios Pneuma – Sacred, Holy, Violent Wind, Breath, Spirit
God’s character:
Judge
Do you know anyone so bad; nobody liked him or her? Everything they did had an evil stamp on it, so that when the person died, nobody cared.
Jehoram, Jehoshaphat’s son, became king of Judah. He was eviler than any king before him and the only king mentioned in Scripture whom no one missed when he died. He didn’t even get a tomb among the other kings of Judah.
What kind of Christian are you? Do people know you’re a Christian or do you dishonor the name of Christian by your behavior?
Many people call themselves Christians, but don’t live a Christian lifestyle. They don’t read their Bible, go to church, or associate with other Christians. Their lives show the opposite of a true Christian. If asked, they would tell you they’re Christians, but their lives indicate something else. They might even believe they’re Christians because their parents were and were baptized as babies, but nothing else in their lives indicates a relationship with Yeshuwa Christos.
Jehoram’s father and grandfather followed Elohiym, trusted Him in everything, and led Judah in the ways of JEHOVAH. Not Jehoram. You are not a Christian because your parents or grandparents were. You become a Christian when you accept Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord and commit your life to following Him. When you do, Satan cannot distract you from your purpose. You will open your Bible, spend time with other believers in Bible study, at church, in prayer, encouraging other believers in their faith. Everything you do will showcase your faith in Yeshuwa.
People will know you’re a true Christian because you will display the fruit of the Hagios Pneuma in your life.
Matthew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore, by their fruits you will know them.
People know the kind of person you are because of your actions. What do your actions tell others about you?
Let’s pray: Father, let my words and actions show people I am Your child. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
