Day 29 – Actions
2 Chronicles 27:1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jerushah, the daughter of Zadok. 2 He did what was right in the sight of JEHOVAH, according to everything his father Uzziah had done (although he did not enter the temple of JEHOVAH). However, the people acted corruptly.
3 He built the Upper Gate of the house of JEHOVAH, and he built extensively on the wall of Ophel. 4 Moreover, he built cities in the mountains of Judah, and in the forests, he built fortresses and towers.
5 He also fought with the king of the Ammonites and defeated them. The people of Ammon gave him in that year one hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kors of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The people of Ammon paid this to him in the second and third years also.
6 Thus, Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before JEHOVAH his Elohiym.
7 Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and his wars and his ways, indeed, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. 8 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. 9 Then Jotham rested with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. Then Ahaz, his son reigned in his place.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Elohiym – Supreme God
Yeshuwa – Jesus
God’s character:
Holy
What you do and how you live your life matters. People see your conduct, whether good or bad, and will respond to you in kind.
Jotham walked in the ways of JEHOVAH. He built cities and won wars. However, he couldn’t change the conduct of the people who acted corruptly before Elohiym.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, the people you called friends saw the change in your life. They either walked away from you, or embraced your life because they saw the good you did. Not everyone will accept your new life. However, Yeshuwa sees your actions and works with you, helping you to walk in His ways.
What does your life look like? Do people see the change in your life since you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord? Has your change caused a change in their lives, or did they walk away from you?
Let Yeshuwa work in your life as you open His Word, spend time in Bible study, prayer, and in fellowship with other believers. Let your life be an encouragement to everyone who sees you.
Let’s pray: Father, work in my life as I spend time with You in Bible study, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. Let my life help change the lives of those who see me as they embrace You with their entire heart, soul, mind, and strength. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
