Daily writing prompt
Write about your approach to budgeting.

Sometimes it doesn’t feel like I have a budget to work with, especially with the way I order online. However, I do have a budgeting method.

I know I need to be a good steward of everything God gives me, especially in finances. Therefore, when I get my monthly Social Security check, the first thing I do with it is set aside my tithe to God. Then I pay my bills. Everything that remains is mine. I try to leave extra to set aside in my PayPal account for upcoming emergencies or trips. I did well with that last year.

I don’t have a credit card, nor do I want one. I know when I pay for something with my debit card the money is there and deducted immediately. I don’t deal with late fees or fees of any kind that could rob me of my finances.

I also know that with the timing of my Social Security check, I need to pay my bills a month ahead to avoid late fees. It works well and I sleep well at night, knowing my bills are paid and I don’t have financial worries. That’s not to say I’m well off. I’m not. I know how to manage my money.
