Good evening from warm Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA where the temperature is 35 F and feels like 32 F at 10 PM. There’s still snow on the ground despite how warm it got today. I’m happy. (Smiley emoji)
It’s a great day to be thankful. Today, I’ll share the little, forgotten, often overlooked things I’m thankful for.
I’m thankful for the air in my lungs. Each breath lets me know I’m alive.
I’m thankful for the beat of my heart pumping blood to every part of my body.
I’m thankful for thought, the ability to think, remember, and act on those things as necessary.
I’m thankful for a beautiful apartment, a bed to sleep in, and food on my table.
I’m thankful for friendships physical and virtual.
I’m thankful for the beauty I can see every day with the eyes God gave me.
I’m thankful for hands that help others in need and feet that run to help.
I’m thankful for my hearing. The ability to hear the birds in the morning, at least in spring when they’ll return to offer beautiful melodies.
I’m thankful for the beautiful person God made me. Scripture says: I am fearfully and wonderfully made and that my soul knows right well.
I’m thankful for the ability to read and write.
I’m thankful for a wonderful imagination to write the stories God gave me the ability to write.
I’m thankful for the unseen things, those things below the surface of my skin that keeps me alive to live another day.
Today was a good day. I have much to be thankful for, especially in the little, often forgotten things that help me be the person I am.

Me on Washington Island a few years ago.
