Day 39 – Battle
2 Chronicles 35:20 After this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates; and Josiah went out against him.
21 However, he sent messengers to him, saying, “What have I to do with you, king of Judah? I have not come against you on this day, but against the house with which I have war; for Elohiym commanded me to make haste. Refrain from meddling with Elohiym, who is with me, lest He destroy you.”
22 Nevertheless, Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself so that he might fight with him, and did not heed the words of Necho from the mouth of Elohiym. Thus, he came to fight in the Valley of Megiddo. 23 The archers shot King Josiah; and the king said to his servants, “Take me away, for I am severely wounded.”
24 His servants therefore took him out of the chariot and put him in the second chariot he had, and they brought him to Jerusalem. Then he died and was buried in one of the tombs of his fathers. Then Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.
25 Jeremiah also lamented for Josiah. To this day the singing men and the singing women speak of Josiah in their lamentations. They made it a custom in Israel; and indeed, they are written in the Laments.
26 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah and his goodness, according to what was written in the Law of JEHOVAH, 27 and his deeds from first to last, indeed they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
God’s names:
Elohiym – Supreme God
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Yeshuwa – Jesus
God’s character:
Destroyer
Have you ever gotten in the middle of something that was none of your business? It would have been better for you to stay away from the situation instead of going full bore into it.
Necho, king of Egypt went to war with Carchemish. Josiah decided to go into battle with him. However, Necho told him Elohiym authorized the battle and told him to stay out of it lest He destroy him. Josiah didn’t listen to Necho or obey Elohiym. Instead, Josiah died in the battle as Elohiym told him would happen.
Many Christians believe every battle against Satan belongs to them. However, that’s not the case. You need to go where Yeshuwa leads you and stay out of battles that don’t concern you. You could find yourself the loser in the battle that doesn’t belong to you.
EVERY battle belongs to JEHOVAH. He will tell you when it’s time to fight and when it’s time to stay away. When you get in the middle of a battle He didn’t authorize, you could die as Josiah did, or worse, you could lose your faith because you lost the battle.
Josiah disguised himself and went to battle. It didn’t matter. The enemy found him and killed him. Satan wants to destroy you. He will cause you to go into battle for that purpose. It doesn’t matter about your good intentions, disguised by your need to be part of the battle, his aim is to destroy you, your faith, and everything you believe in. Don’t let him destroy you. Josiah didn’t listen to Necho who told him Elohiym would destroy him if he went into the battle. Yeshuwa will destroy your good intentions disguised by your need to meddle where you don’t belong. He has plans for you. Fighting every battle, you come across isn’t part of His plans.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says JEHOVAH, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and hope.
Don’t let Satan destroy you because you disobeyed Yeshuwa and went into a battle that doesn’t involve you.
Let’s pray: Father, keep me from battles that don’t belong to me. Let me know when it’s time to fight and when it’s time to stay out of the fight. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
