Daily writing prompt
What experiences in life helped you grow the most?

One of my many achievements.

Motivation for growth can come from odd places. For me, growth happened when someone told me I couldn’t do something. The first motivation took place when I was in fourth grade. I stood in front of the buffet with my brother, report card in hand. My mother told me I would never do better, and told my brother he should have done better. The negative response from my mother, motivated me to do better in school and work hard to get good grades. I graduated in the top third of my class of 81 students.

Every time someone told me I couldn’t, I proved I could, if not to the person giving me the negative criticism, then to myself. I have many achievements in life born out of negativism. I refuse to allow negativity to control my life and stunt my growth as a human being.

You could say, I am who I am today because of all the negativity in my life.

What motivated you to grow and become the person you are today? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.
