Day 56 – Exclusion/Inclusion
Nehemiah 7:1 Then it happened, when the wall was built and I had hung the doors, when the gatekeepers, the singers, and the Levites had been appointed, 2 I gave the charge of Jerusalem to my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the leader of the citadel, for he was a faithful man and feared Elohiym more than many. 3 I said to them, “Do not let the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun is hot; and while they stand guard, let them shut and bar the doors; and appoint guards from among the inhabitants of Jerusalem, one at his watch station and another in front of his house.”
4 Now the city was large and spacious, but the people in it were few, and the houses were not rebuilt.
5 Then my Elohiym put it into my heart to gather the nobles, the rulers, and the people, that they might be registered by genealogy. I found a register of the genealogy of those who had come up in the first return, and found written in it: 6 These are the people of the province who came back from the captivity, of those who had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and who returned to Jerusalem and Judah, everyone to his city.
61 These were the ones who came up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer, but they could not identify their father’s house nor their lineage, whether they were of Israel: 62 the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, six hundred and forty-two; 63 and of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Koz, the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called by their name. 64 These sought their listing among those who were registered by genealogy, but it was not found; therefore, they were excluded from the priesthood as defiled.
65 The governor said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things till a priest could consult with the Urim and Thummim.
66 Altogether the whole assembly was forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty, 67 besides their male and female servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven; and they had two hundred and forty-five men and women singers.
68 Their horses were seven hundred and thirty-six, their mules two hundred and forty-five, 69 their camels four hundred and thirty-five, and donkeys six thousand seven hundred and twenty. 70 Some of the heads of the fathers’ houses gave to the work. The governor gave the treasury one thousand gold drachmas, fifty basins, and five hundred and thirty priestly garments.
71 Some of the heads of the fathers’ houses gave to the treasury of the work twenty thousand gold drachmas, and two thousand two hundred silver minas. 72 The rest of the people gave twenty thousand gold drachmas, two thousand silver minas, and sixty-seven priestly garments.
73 Thus, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the Nethinim, and everyone in Israel dwelt in their cities. When the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
God’s names:
Elohiym – Supreme God
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Pater – Father
Kurios – Supreme Authority
Theos – Supreme Divinity
God’s character:
Provider
Have you found yourself excluded from a project you wanted to be part of? What did you do?
When Nehemiah hung the gates and bars for the wall surrounding Jerusalem, he counted the people according to the registry he found of the people. However, there were people not found in the registry. He excluded them from the priesthood until they could confirm their genealogy.
Many people who call themselves Christians, but don’t read their Bible, go to church, or associate with other believers, will find a rude awakening when they face Yeshuwa at the end of their lives.
Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Kurios, Kurios,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Pater in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Kurios, Kurios, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
You can say the right words, but if your actions don’t line up with what you say, no one will believe you’re a Christian. You must not only talk the talk, but you must also walk the walk.
Matthew 24:11 “Then many false prophets will rise and deceive many. 12 Because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 However, he who endures to the end will be saved.
When Nehemiah read the registry, he found forty-two thousand three-hundred and sixty people in the registry who returned to Jerusalem.
Is your name in the registry of heaven?
Revelation 3:5 “He who overcomes will be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Pater and before His angels.
Revelation 20:12 I saw the dead, small and great, standing before Theos, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. The dead were judged according to their works, by the things written in the books.
13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works.
14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 Anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 21:27 However, there will by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. (NKJV)
Blessed are you whose names are in the Book of Life.
Let’s pray: Father, let my life show my love for You. Don’t let me be among those whom people wonder whether I’m saved or not. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
