Day 59 – Covenant

Nehemiah 10:1 Now those who placed their seal on the document were: Nehemiah the governor, the son of Hacaliah, and Zedekiah, 2 Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah, 3 Pashhur, Amariah, Malchijah, 4 Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch, 5 Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah, 6 Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch, 7 Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin, 8 Maaziah, Bilgai, and Shemaiah. These were the priests. 9 The Levites: Jeshua the son of Azaniah, Binnui of the sons of Henadad, and Kadmiel. 10 Their brethren: Shebaniah, Hodijah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan, 11 Micha, Rehob, Hashabiah, 12 Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah, 13 Hodijah, Bani, and Beninu. 14 The leaders of the people: Parosh, Pahath-Moab, Elam, Zattu, Bani, 15 Bunni, Azgad, Bebai, 16 Adonijah, Bigvai, Adin, 17 Ater, Hezekiah, Azzur,

18 Hodijah, Hashum, Bezai, 19 Hariph, Anathoth, Nebai, 20 Magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir, 21 Meshezabel, Zadok, Jaddua, 22 Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah, 23 Hoshea, Hananiah, Hasshub,

24 Hallohesh, Pilha, Shobek, 25 Rehum, Hashabnah, Maaseiah,

26 Ahijah, Hanan, Anan, 27 Malluch, Harim, and Baanah.

28 Now the rest of the people—the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinim, and everyone who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of Elohiym, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, everyone who had knowledge and understanding— 29 these joined with their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse and an oath to walk in Elohiym’s Law, which was given by Moses the servant of Elohiym, and to observe and do the commandments of the JEHOVAH our Adown, and His ordinances and His statutes: 30 We would not give our daughters as wives to the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons; 31 if the peoples of the land brought wares or grain to sell on the Sabbath day, we would not buy it from them on the Sabbath, or on a holy day; and we would forego the seventh year’s produce and the exacting of every debt.

32 Also, we made ordinances for ourselves, to exact from ourselves yearly one-third of a shekel for the service of the house of our Elohiym: 33 for the showbread, for the regular grain offering, for the regular burnt offering of the Sabbaths, the New Moons, and the set feasts; for the holy things, for the sin offerings to make atonement for Israel, and the work of the house of our Elohiym.

34 We cast lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for bringing the wood offering into the house of our Elohiym, according to our fathers’ houses, at the appointed times year by year, to burn on the altar of the JEHOVAH our Elohiym as it is written in the Law. 35 We made ordinances to bring the first fruits of our ground and the first fruits of fruit of every tree, year by year, to the house of the JEHOVAH; 36 to bring the firstborn of our sons and our cattle, as it is written in the Law, and the firstborn of our herds and our flocks, to the house of our Elohiym, to the priests who minister in the house of our Elohiym; 37 to bring the first fruits of our dough, our offerings, the fruit from every kind of trees, the new wine and oil, to the priests, to the storerooms of the house of our Elohiym; and to bring the tithes of our land to the Levites, for the Levites should receive the tithes in our farming communities. 38 The priest, the descendant of Aaron, will be with the Levites when the Levites receive tithes; and the Levites will bring a tenth of the tithes to the house of our Elohiym, to the rooms of the storehouse. 39 For the children of Israel and the children of Levi will bring the offering of the grain, of the new wine and the oil, to the storerooms where the articles of the sanctuary are, where the priests who minister and the gatekeepers and the singers are; and we will not neglect the house of our Elohiym.

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Elohiym – Supreme God

Adown – Sovereign

Yeshuwa – Jesus

Pater – Father

Theos – Supreme Divinity

Iesous – Jesus

Christos – Anointed One, Messiah

God’s character:

Sovereign

Throughout history people formed laws and constitutions and set their names on them, binding them to obey the laws of the land. One such document is the Declaration of Independence for the United States of America where fifty-seven people put their names.

Israel made a covenant with JEHOVAH. Their leaders put their names on the covenant to obey the laws JEHOVAH their Adown set down in the Law of Moses. With their names on the covenant, they bound themselves to obey Elohiym’s law.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you promised to obey Him in everything He told you. Yeshuwa sealed your name in a document called the Book of Life.

Philippians 4:1 Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.

2 I implore Euodia, and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.

3 I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.

Revelation 3:5 “He who overcomes will be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Pater and before His angels. (NKJV)

Revelation 20:12 I saw the dead, small and great, standing before Theos, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. The dead were judged according to their works, by the things written in the books.

13 The sea gave up the dead in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead in them. They were judged, each one according to his works.

14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 Anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:27 However, there will by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Is your name written in the most important document between Elohiym and man? People break manmade covenants. However, no one can break the covenant you have with Yeshuwa.

John 10:24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christos, tell us plainly.”

25 Iesous answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The work that I do in My Pater’s name, they bear witness to Me. 26 However, you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; neither will anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Pater, who gave them to Me, is greater than everyone; and no one can snatch them out of My Pater’s hand. 30 I and My Pater are one.”

If your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, NO ONE can snatch you away from Him. If your name is not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, you can accept Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord and Theos will write your name in the book. Those whose names aren’t written in it face eternity separated from Yeshuwa in Hell.

Israel covenanted with Elohiym to obey Him and put their names on the document. You can do the same with the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Let’s pray: Father, thank you that my name is written in Your Book and no one can take me out of Your Book. Help me live my life in obedience to You and forgive me when I fall short and confess my sins to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
