Day 62 – Crown

Esther 2:1 After these things, when the wrath of King Ahasuerus subsided, he remembered Vashti, what she had done, and what had been decreed against her.

2 Then the king’s servants who attended him said, “Let beautiful young virgins be sought for the king; 3 and let the king appoint officers in the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather the beautiful young virgins to Shushan the citadel, into the women’s quarters, under the custody of Hegai the king’s eunuch, custodian of the women. And let beauty preparations be given to them. 4 Then let the young woman who pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti.” This thing pleased the king, and he did so.

5 In Shushan the citadel there was a certain Jew whose name was Mordecai the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite. 6 Kish had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captives who had been captured with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away. 7 Mordecai had brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter, for she had neither father nor mother. The young woman was lovely and beautiful. When her father and mother died, Mordecai took her as his own daughter.

8 Thus, it happened, when the king’s command and decree were heard, and when many young women were gathered at Shushan the citadel, under the custody of Hegai, that Esther also was taken to the king’s palace, into the care of Hegai the custodian of the women.

9 Now the young woman pleased him, and she obtained his favor; so, he readily gave beauty preparations to her, besides her allowance. Then seven choice maidservants were provided for her from the king’s palace, and he moved her and her maidservants to the best place in the house of the women.

10 Esther had not revealed her people or family, for Mordecai had charged her not to reveal it.

11 Every day Mordecai paced in front of the court of the women’s quarters, to learn of Esther’s welfare and what was happening to her.

12 Each young woman’s turn came to go in to King Ahasuerus after she had completed twelve months’ preparation, according to the regulations for the women, for thus were the days of their preparation apportioned: six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with perfumes and preparations for beautifying women. 13 Thus prepared, each young woman went to the king, and she was given whatever she desired to take with her from the women’s quarters to the king’s palace. 14 In the evening she went, and in the morning, she returned to the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s eunuch who kept the concubines. She would not go in to the king again unless the king delighted in her and called for her by name.

15 Now when the turn came for Esther the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her as his daughter, to go in to the king, she requested nothing but what Hegai the king’s eunuch, the custodian of the women, advised. Esther obtained favor in the sight of everyone who saw her.

16 Then Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus, into his royal palace, in the tenth month, which is the month of Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign. 17 The king loved Esther more than the other women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than the virgins; so, he set the royal crown upon her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.

18 Then the king made a great feast, the Feast of Esther, for his officials and servants; and he proclaimed a holiday in the provinces and gave gifts according to the generosity of a king.

19 When virgins were gathered a second time, Mordecai sat within the king’s gate.

20 Now Esther had not revealed her family and her people, just as Mordecai had charged her, for Esther obeyed the command of Mordecai as when she was brought up by him.

21 In those days, while Mordecai sat within the king’s gate, two of the king’s eunuchs, Bigthan and Teresh, doorkeepers, became furious and sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus. 22 Thus, the matter became known to Mordecai, who told Queen Esther, and Esther informed the king in Mordecai’s name. 23 When an inquiry was made into the matter, it was confirmed, and both were hanged on a gallows; and it was written in the book of the chronicles in the presence of the king.

God’s character:

Bridegroom

Many women have voiced the familiar saying, always a bridesmaid, never a bride.

King Ahasuerus needed a queen. His advisors suggested he seek her from the most beautiful women in his kingdom. Their suggestion pleased him and the most beautiful women in his provinces were brought into the palace and given a year’s worth of beauty treatments. After which they spent one night with the king until he made his selection from among them. Esther won his favor and the crown.

Yeshuwa sought you for His queen when you accepted Him as Savior and Lord.

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the Theos and Pater of our Kurios Iesous Christos, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christos, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Iesous Christos to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.

Matthew 9:14 Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?”

15 Iesous said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn if the bridegroom is with them? However, the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

When King Ahasuerus chose Esther as his queen, he gave a feast in her honor. Likewise, Yeshuwa prepares a marriage feast for you as His bride.

Revelation 19:7 “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Arnion has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”

8 To her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

Esther prepared for her night with the king and went to him arrayed in the best clothes given to her for her one-night appearance. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you arrayed yourself in fine linen, the work you do for Him.

When you do His work, trust Him to take care of you, He will put the crown on your head and call you, His bride.

1 Corinthians 9:25 Everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in everything. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.

You have several crowns Yeshuwa gives you as His faithful servant.

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Kurios, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to everyone who has loved His appearing.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Kurios has promised to those who love Him.

1 Peter 5:4 When the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.

1 Thessalonians 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Kurios Iesous Christos at His coming?

Revelation 2:10 “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Yeshuwa also admonishes you to hold onto your crown so that no one takes it from you. He knows Satan will do everything in his power to take your crown and tell you, you aren’t worthy of it. You are worthy when you do Yeshuwa’s work.

Revelation 3:11 “Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold tightly to what you have, that no one may take your crown.

Esther needed to prove herself worthy of the crown. You became worthy the moment you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord.

Let’s pray: Father, what can I say but thank you for everything You have given me? You sought me, bought me, and placed a crown on my head when I accepted you. You told me I was worthy and made me Your bride. Help me live my life in honor and praise to You for everything you do for me every day. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
