Day 66 – Delight
Esther 6:1 That night the king could not sleep. Thus, one was commanded to bring the book of the records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.
2 It was found written that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs, the doorkeepers who had sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus.
3 Then the king said, “What honor or dignity has been bestowed on Mordecai for this?”
The king’s servants who attended him said, “Nothing has been done for him.”
4 Then the king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the king’s palace to suggest that the king hang Mordecai on the gallows he had prepared for him.
5 The king’s servants said to him, “Haman is there, standing in the court.”
The king said, “Let him come in.”
6 Then Haman came in, and the king asked him, “What will be done for the man whom the king delights to honor?”
Now Haman thought in his heart, “Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?” 7 Haman answered the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor, 8 let a royal robe be brought which the king has worn, and a horse on which the king has ridden, which has a royal crest placed on its head. 9 Then let this robe and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that he may array the man whom the king delights to honor. Then parade him on horseback through the city square and proclaim before him: ‘Thus will it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!’”
10 Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry, take the robe and the horse, as you have suggested, and do so for Mordecai the Jew who sits within the king’s gate! Leave nothing undone of everything you have spoken.”
11 Then Haman took the robe and the horse, arrayed Mordecai and led him on horseback through the city square, and proclaimed before him, “Thus will it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!”
12 Afterward Mordecai went back to the king’s gate. However, Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered.
13 When Haman told his wife Zeresh and his friends everything that had happened to him, his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him but will surely fall before him.”
14 While they were still talking with him, the king’s eunuchs came and hastened to bring Haman to the banquet which Esther had prepared.

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
God’s character:
Delight
Every day you see people who believe they deserve the best of everything. When someone suggests they honor certain people for what they did, they immediately think the honor will go to them because no one deserves the honor more than them.
Haman had just built the gallows to hang Mordecai on and went to talk to the king about doing so. However, King Ahasuerus had a sleepless night and read the chronicles about how Mordecai saved his life. When he learned Haman was in the court, he asked him about what to do to honor a man in whom the king delighted. Haman suggested what to do, believing the king would honor him. However, when he learned he was to honor Mordecai in the king’s name, he felt shamed.
Many Christians feel the same as Haman, worthy of the greatest honor. However, when Yeshuwa looks at your character, He sees a person He delights in, not because you parade everything you do in Yeshuwa’s name, but because of your humble attitude in doing His work.
Mordecai was an unassuming man in the king’s court. His only crime in Haman’s eyes was that he failed to honor Haman. However, the king saw a man deserving of honor and told Haman to honor him.
It isn’t the person who lets everyone know what he does in Yeshuwa’s name, but the one who does His will in an unassuming manner.
Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Kurios, Kurios,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Pater in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Kurios, Kurios, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
When you do your work with a humble heart, Yeshuwa will lift you up.
James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Kurios, and He will lift you up.
Yeshuwa told His disciples their righteousness needed to exceed that of the Pharisees, but they should not do what they did.
Matthew 5:20 “For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. (NKJV)
Psalm 34:18 JEHOVAH is near to those who have a broken heart and saves such as having a contrite spirit.
What kind of spirit do you have? Does Yeshuwa delight in you, or will you hear Him tell you He never knew you? Check your attitude and make the adjustments needed.
Let’s pray: Father, give me a humble spirit in the work You give me. Let me honor You in everything I do and know Your delight for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
