Day 72 – Protection

Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of Elohiym came to present themselves before JEHOVAH, and Satan came also among them to present himself before JEHOVAH.

2 JEHOVAH said to Satan, “Where do you come from?”

Then Satan answered JEHOVAH and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”

3 Then JEHOVAH said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears Elohiym and shuns evil? He holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause.”

4 Satan answered JEHOVAH and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, everything a man has he will give for his life. 5 However, stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse You to Your face!”

6 JEHOVAH said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand but spare his life.”

7 Then Satan went out from the presence of JEHOVAH and struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.

8 He took for himself a potsherd with which to scrape himself while he sat amid the ashes.

9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse Elohiym and die!”

10 However, he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Will we indeed accept good from Elohiym, and will we not accept adversity?” In everything, Job did not sin with his lips.

11 Now when Job’s three friends heard of this adversity that had come upon him, each one came from his place—Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. For they had made an appointment together to come and mourn with him, and to comfort him.

12 When they raised their eyes from afar, and did not recognize him, they lifted their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe and sprinkled dust on his head toward heaven.

13 Thus, they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was great.

Theos – Supreme Divinity

God’s character:

Protector

How often do you want to give up when things get bad? Your family and friends want you to take the easy way out, yet you hold onto hope.

Satan, undeterred by Job’s faith in Elohiym, presented himself before JEHOVAH again and asked Him to allow him to bring more adversity against Job. Again, JEHOVAH set the boundary and told Satan he couldn’t kill him. When Satan struck his body with boils, his wife told him to curse Elohiym and die. His friends came to mourn him.

What did you expect your life would be like when you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord? Did you expect Yeshuwa would keep you from every trouble Satan would and could bring against you? Did you believe being a Christian was easy? Many Christians believe that when they accept Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, having no knowledge of the Bible or what it means to be a Christian.

Yeshuwa told His disciples what to expect because they followed Him.

Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep amid wolves. Therefore, be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. 17 However, beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues. 18 You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. 19 However, when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should say. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; 20 for it is not you who speak, but the Pneuma of your Pater who speaks in you. 21 Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise against parents and cause them to be put to death. 22 You will be hated by everyone for My name’s sake. However, he who endures to the end will be saved.

Yeshuwa also prayed for His disciples and future Christians before His death on the cross.

John 17:11 “Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Hagios Pater, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 However, now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Job kept himself from Satan by worshiping Elohiym. He never lost his faith despite the trouble Satan brought to his life. When you stand on your faith in Yeshuwa and not focus on the trouble Satan brings your way, he cannot harm you. Your friends and family members might not see things the way you do because they don’t have your faith, but when you stand strong in your faith, nothing Satan brings against you will have an affect on your eternal soul.

Job’s wife told him to curse Elohiym and die. His friends mourned for him. They didn’t understand Job’s faith. They wanted him to take the easy way out. Job wasn’t into easy. He trusted JEHOVAH to bring him through the battle.

Every day you are in a battle with Satan. However, when you stand your ground of faith, continue to trust in Yeshuwa to keep you from Satan, he cannot harm you.

Matthew 10:28 “Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Satan cannot do anything Yeshuwa doesn’t allow. However, in allowing Satan to come against you, He sets boundaries Satan cannot cross. Satan couldn’t kill Job. He can’t kill you either. When you stand on your faith, trusting Yeshuwa with your life, you will see Satan flee in defeat.

What trouble do you see in your life? Keep your faith strong. Trust Yeshuwa to set the boundaries and bring you through.

James 1:2 My brethren, count it joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

4 However, let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but Theos is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

When you store up Yeshuwa’s Word in your heart, Satan can do nothing to you. He will stand defeated because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

1 John 4:4 You are of Theos, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Let’s pray: Father, let Your Word rise in me when Satan and the world come against me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
