Day 89 – Rebuke
Job 26:1 Job answered and said, 2 “How have you helped him who is without power? How have you saved the arm that has no strength? 3 How have you counseled one who has no wisdom? How have you declared sound advice to many? 4 To whom have you uttered words? Whose spirit came from you?
5 “The dead tremble, those under the waters and those inhabiting them. 6 Sheol is naked before Him, and Destruction has no covering. 7 He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing. 8 He binds the water in His thick clouds, yet the clouds are not broken under it. 9 He covers the face of His throne and spreads His cloud over it. 10 He drew a circular horizon on the face of the waters, at the boundary of light and darkness. 11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at His rebuke. 12 He stirs the sea with His power, and by His understanding He breaks the storm. 13 By His Ruwach He adorned the heavens; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent. 14 Indeed these are the mere edges of His ways, and how small a whisper we hear of Him! However, the thunder of His power who can understand?”
God’s names:
Ruwach – Violent Wind, Breath, Spirit
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Elohiym – Supreme God
God’s character:
Creator
Have you spoken without thinking and received a rebuke for your words?
Job listened to his friends condemning him for sin against Elohiym; sin, he did not commit. Instead of pleading with Elohiym, Job declared who He is and what He did to create the world and how Sheol and Destruction cannot stand against Him.
How do you handle rebuke when you said things without thinking about what you said, bringing accusations against fellow Christians when you don’t know the circumstances? Have you been on the receiving end of the rebuke or did you rebuke your friends for their unfounded accusations?
Job came to the point where he could no longer keep silent in the face of his friends’ accusations and rebuked them, letting them know Elohiym’s power and majesty in creation.
If creation cannot stand against Him, how can you stand against Yeshuwa when your friend rebukes you for your careless words? If you are the one rebuking your friends, show Yeshuwa’s power and might. Let Yeshuwa defend you. Many Christians rebuke with accusations, lending power to those who brought accusations against you. Instead of giving more power to Satan, show Yeshuwa’s mighty power. Even Satan cannot stand against Yeshuwa’s power.
In his rebuke, Job said Elohiym pierced the fleeing serpent, Satan. When you rebuke with the power and might of Yeshuwa behind you, Satan can do nothing except flee from you. Be certain to put Satan to flight with your rebuke and not answer a rebuke with more accusations.
Let’s pray: Father, too often my mouth gets me in trouble when people come against me. Give me Your words when people bring unfounded accusations against me. Guide my thoughts. Then I will see Satan fleeing from me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
