Day 99 – Faithfulness

Job 42:1 Then Job answered JEHOVAH and said, 2 “I know You can do everything, and no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. 3 You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore, I uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. 4 Listen, please, and let me speak; You said, ‘I will question you, and you will answer Me.’

5 “I heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You. 6 Therefore, I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.”

7 Thus, it was, after JEHOVAH had spoken these words to Job, that JEHOVAH said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. 8 Now, therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”

9 Then Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as JEHOVAH commanded them; for JEHOVAH had accepted Job. 10 JEHOVAH restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed, JEHOVAH gave Job twice as much as he had before.

11 Then his brothers, his sisters, and those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for the adversity JEHOVAH had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.

12 Now JEHOVAH blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. 13 He also had seven sons and three daughters. 14 He called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch.

15 In the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.

16 After this Job lived one hundred and forty years and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations. 17 Then Job died, old and full of days.

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Healer

Provider

Blesser

When do you know the trouble, you faced was a test to prove your faithfulness? Often, you cannot see the blessing until you finish the test.

Job answered JEHOVAH and repented in dust and ashes because he didn’t understand the full magnitude of JEHOVAH. JEHOVAH showed Himself to Job and his friends. He accepted Job’s repentance and turned his attention to Eliphaz and his two friends who spoke without wisdom about Him and told them to bring an offering to Job and he would offer the sacrifice for them. Then JEHOVAH blessed Job and gave him double what he lost in Satan’s test of his faithfulness.

Many times, as Christians, you face situations to prove your faithfulness. Yeshuwa knows whether you will stand or fall. When trouble comes do you act more like Job’s friends, or do you stand your ground as Job did and prove your faithfulness to Yeshuwa?

We hope we prove faithful in the test and not act presumptively and without thought or regard for the trouble we or our friends face. We want Yeshuwa’s blessing on our lives. We want to hear ‘Well done’, not that we need to make restitution for our lack of faith.

What trouble do you face? Is it a test of your faith? Stand strong and never doubt and you will see Yeshuwa’s blessings in your life.

Let’s pray: Father, help me to remain faithful to You in every trial and trouble Satan brings against me. Let me see Your blessing on my life for my faithfulness. Help me stand strong with my friends who face trouble and give them comfort, not criticism as they stand strong in the battle. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
