Easy answer guys. Only one person gives me direction in life, my Savior, Jesus Christ.
I get direction when I read the Bible. Reading the Bible isn’t a sometime deal with me. It’s every day. I don’t only read it for a few minutes, close it and go on my way. I study it. I want to know what it says to me.
I get direction when I go to church. Church isn’t only about socializing. It’s about learning what the Bible says. I don’t rely on what I read alone. I also learn what other people say about what God’s Word says. If I’m going to have a personal relationship with Jesus, I need to spend time with Him. Church might be only once a week with six days before I attend again, but it’s what I do with what I learned in church on the other six days.
You don’t only eat one meal a week. You eat three times a day, every day. If you only ate once a week, you would waste away and die. When you go to church and do nothing with what you learned the rest of the week, your soul shrivels up and dies. You need a daily helping of the Word to stay connected to Jesus.
I get direction when I go to Bible study. Bible study is another way I stay connected with my best friend, Jesus. I attend two Bible studies. One on Tuesday morning with a great group of ladies. We delve into the Word through studying what others say about the Bible. Right now we’re reading and discussing John Bevere’s book, The Awe of God. Awesome book. I recommend it. I also attend a Bible study in the complex I live in twice a month, the second and fourth Wednesday. Right now we’re discussing the Ten Commandments.
I get direction when I pray. Prayer also isn’t a one time deal. It’s every day. It’s whenever you see or hear something that brings you to an attitude for prayer. It’s praying when someone asks you to pray for them. I don’t only say I will pray for the person and walk away. I pray for them on the spot. That way, I don’t forget to come into God’s throne room with prayer requests. I pray as often as the Lord lays a person or situation on my mind. The Bible says to pray without ceasing. It doesn’t mean you bow your head and pray around the clock and don’t do anything else. It means you’re ready to pray when the need arises. The Bible also says we’re to pray for our leaders. No one needs prayer more than our leaders and the decisions they make every day.
Jesus is my best friend. When I spend time with Him, He lets me know what His will is for my life. I rely on Him for direction in everything I do. Without His guidance, I would be a mess. I am who I am because of Jesus Christ.
