My career plan since the first day I started working, was retirement and doing what I love to do best – write.
I started working right out of high school and stopped working at the age of 59 when I was let go from my job and faced unemployment until I could receive Social Security. That job upended my life. Oh well, God had other plans for my life.
Along with working a full-time job for the major part of my life, I also wrote whenever and wherever I could. I wrote novels, short stories, and poetry, some of which I turned into songs, especially when I changed the words to familiar songs and put a smile and laughter on the lips of those who heard them.
I published my first book in 2012, before I was forcefully retired and it was an immediate success, not in the way of sales, but those who bought it from me versus online. Those who read Scarred loved it and told me they couldn’t put it down. Now, I have 9 books published, most of them since retirement. You could say being an author is my retirement career and one I LOVE more than any job outside of the Navy, I had during my working career.
What is your career? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me taken at the last Winter Market.
