Day 114 – Change

Psalm 15:1 (A Psalm of David.) JEHOVAH, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? 2 He who walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart; 3 he who does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; 4 in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but he honors those who fear JEHOVAH; he who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5 he who does not put out his money at usury, nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be moved.

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Holy

Do you feel like your life is hopeless and you will never get ahead? You wonder what it will take to succeed.

David gave a glimpse of what it took to stand in JEHOVAH’S presence. It almost sounds discouraging because who can stand in His presence? Yet, it’s not impossible.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you found the one reason you could stand in JEHOVAH’S presence. David and those before Yeshuwa didn’t have the one thing that gives you the ability to stand in His presence – Yeshuwa’s blood that covers you and proclaims you not guilty before the Father.

David gave several conditions a person needed to stand in JEHOVAH’S presence.

  1. Walk uprightly. As Christians, it isn’t hard to walk uprightly when you spend time in Yeshuwa’s presence every day in Bible study and prayer.
  2. Works righteousness. When you were in the world, you didn’t always do what was right and might not have cared if you did. However, when you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, everything changed. You wanted to treat your neighbor as yourself.
  3. Speaks the truth in his heart. Many people have told themselves lies that they don’t know the truth when they hear it. Yet, when you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you needed to train yourself to tell the truth in every circumstance. When you did, you also spoke the truth in your heart.
  4. Does not backbite, argue. Defending yourself before you became a Christian was second nature. However, when you accepted Yeshuwa, you don’t need to argue with anyone. Your new nature will speak for itself, and you will find people who will vouch for you.
  5. Doesn’t harm his neighbor. As Yeshuwa’s child, you become obedient to JEHOVAH’S first and second commandment. Love JEHOVAH with your entire heart, soul, mind, and strength, and your neighbor as yourself.
  6. He doesn’t bring unfounded accusations against his friends. Your entire nature changes the moment you accept Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord. Everything you were Yeshuwa placed under His blood. It will take time for your friends to believe in the change in you, but with consistency they will see the new you and accept your change.
  7. He honors those who believe in JEHOVAH. Your friends will change. You will no longer associate with those who            don’t believe in Yeshuwa. However, you will bring them the gospel so they too can believe in Yeshuwa.
  8. He stays away from those who reject Yeshuwa and refuse to change their lifestyle to their hurt. They have one eternal destination – Hell away from the presence of Yeshuwa.
  9. Greed no longer governs your life. Your dealings with people become fair and honorable.
  10. When you act according to your new faith in Yeshuwa, nothing will move you back to your old lifestyle.

It no longer looks impossible as a child of Yeshuwa. One day at a time in His presence will change a lifetime of deceit in the world. Yeshuwa brings the change you need to stand before Him guilt-free.

What does your life look like? If you need to make changes, repent and turn your life over to Yeshuwa. Then nothing will move you from His presence in your life.

Let’s pray: Father, I stand before You guilty, but with faith in Yeshuwa, You don’t see my guilt, but my freedom to live in Your presence because of Your Son’s blood. Keep my life free from its old lifestyle as I live for You today and praise You for everything You do for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
