Day 115 – Determination

Psalm 16:1 (A Michtam of David.) Preserve me, O Elohiym, for in You I put my trust. 2 O my soul, you said to JEHOVAH, “You are my JEHOVAH, my goodness is nothing apart from You.” 3 As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is my entire delight.” 4 Their sorrows will be multiplied who hasten after another elohiym; their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take up their names on my lips. 5 O JEHOVAH, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. 6 The lines fall to me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good inheritance.

7 I will bless JEHOVAH who gave me counsel; my heart also instructs me in the night seasons. 8 I set JEHOVAH always before me; because He is at my right hand I will not be moved. 9 Therefore, my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope. 10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Determination is a strong force. When people make up their minds to do something, it’s hard to dissuade them and offer them a new course.

David determined to trust JEHOVAH in everything. He said he would not even utter another elohiym’s name or do anything that would show worship of other elohiym. He would stay true to JEHOVAH because in JEHOVAH he found joy and eternal pleasure.

David also gave a Messianic prophecy regarding JEHOVAH’S Son. He would not leave Him in Sheol for His body to decay.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, what did you determine in your walk with Him? Did you declare you would read your Bible, pray, go to church, spend time with other believers in Bible study? Did you determine to have nothing to do with the ways of life that would lead you astray from Yeshuwa?

Many Christians tolerate other religions, go to their events, and put on a persona that compromises their commitment to follow Yeshuwa.

As you study Yeshuwa’s Word, you know David did not waver in his determination to keep JEHOVAH in the forefront of his life. Everything he did, he did with Elohiym at the forefront of his life. From the battles he fought to the affairs of his kingdom, he sought Elohiym first. Was David perfect? No. You know he sinned, but he always confessed his sin, even when he needed coaching to confess his sin with Bathsheba. His life was a dedication to JEHOVAH.

Can you say the same about your life? Do you have the same determination, the same commitment to Yeshuwa? Do you seek Yeshuwa’s counsel in every decision you make? Is Yeshuwa’s Word your instructor? Do you find joy in your life because Yeshuwa is your Savior and Lord?

Examine your life. Confess your sins and know Yeshuwa’s joy. Then you will know Yeshuwa’s eternal pleasures.

Let’s pray: Father, keep my mind focused on You. Show me when I sin so I can confess it right away. Let me know Your joy as I take counsel in Your Word. Let Your Word instruct me so I can keep my feet on the path of eternal life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
