Daily writing prompt
What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

Not long ago I told my son I felt bad because I’m not wealthy enough to leave him an inheritance. He told me my legacy was in the books I write.

As much as that is wonderful because hopefully, they will continue to provide a royalty to my family long after I leave this world. The legacy I want to leave behind is much more.

When my children think about me after I’m gone, I want them to reflect on who I am in Jesus Christ. I want my life to reflect my Lord in everything I say, do, and think, just as I just posted about in the Daily Bible Study.

Life isn’t found in the things you have, but it’s found in what you do for others. It’s in how you treat others as well as you treat yourself, the Golden Rule. Jesus told the people in His Sermon on the Mount: Matthew 7:12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
(NKJV)

In the Law God gave to Moses, He told the people they were to: Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! 5 You will love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.(NKJV) Leviticus 19:18 You will not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you will love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD. (NKJV)

This is the legacy I want to leave behind for my children. Not in the things I possess, but in the love I give them because I love Jesus, my Savior with my entire heart, soul, mind, and strength, and my neighbor as much as I love myself.

What is your legacy? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading. The images belong to me.
