Practicing something means you’re trying to get good at whatever you are pursuing.
In school, I practiced penmanship, reading, math, and many other subjects to get good enough to pass the class and move to the next grade level.
In the work life, I practiced every day to learn my job better so I could get a promotion.
I practiced the piano as a child so I could be good enough to play for people. I didn’t get far with that as my lessons were cut short.
I practiced sewing and believe I’m good. I practiced cooking and baking and do well with that too.
However, I never practiced religion. How does one practice religion? No. I practice my relationship with Jesus Christ. I want to learn everything I can about being His follower, obeying Him, so that when I face Him I receive a crown of glory for those who follow Him. I also want to hear Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
That’s why we practice anything, to get a well-done from our teachers and employers. You can’t practice a religion, but you can practice a relationship.
