Day 133 – Attitude

Psalm 34:1 (A Psalm of David when he pretended madness before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.) I will always bless JEHOVAH; His praise will continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul will make its boast in JEHOVAH; the humble will hear of it and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify JEHOVAH with me, and let us exalt His name together. 4 I sought JEHOVAH, and He heard me, and delivered me from my fears. 5 They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried out, and JEHOVAH heard him, and saved him out of his troubles. 7 The Mal’ak of JEHOVAH encamps around those who fear Him and delivers them. 8 Oh, taste and see that JEHOVAH is good; blessed is the man who trusts Him! 9 Oh, fear JEHOVAH, you, His saints! There is no want for those who fear Him. 10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek JEHOVAH will not lack any good thing.

11 Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of JEHOVAH. 12 Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. 15 The eyes of JEHOVAH are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. 16 The face of JEHOVAH is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry out, and JEHOVAH hears, and delivers them out of their troubles. 18 JEHOVAH is near to those who have a broken heart and saves such as have a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but JEHOVAH delivers him out of them. 20 He guards his bones; not one of them is broken. 21 Evil will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous, He will condemn. 22 JEHOVAH redeems the soul of His servants and will condemn none of those who trust Him.

God’s names:

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

We live in a day of entitlement. When things go right for people, they take it as their due, become haughty, and give no consideration to those they feel are beneath them. How do you respond when you find things falling in place for you? Do you become arrogant, or do you become humble?

David took nothing for granted. In every situation he faced, he praised JEHOVAH. He blessed JEHOVAH with every breath he took. David knew JEHOVAH heard his prayers and delivered him from his enemies. Therefore, he praised JEHOVAH often and made a commitment to bless Him in everything.

David then gave a list of qualities to those who desire a long life.

  1. Keep their tongue from evil
  2. Speak no deceit
  3. Depart from evil and do good
  4. Seek peace and pursue it

He also listed what JEHOVAH does for those who seek Him.

  1. His eyes are on them
  2. His ears hear them when they cry to Him
  3. He delivers them from their troubles
  4. He is near the broken hearted
  5. He saves a contrite spirit
  6. He redeems the soul of His servants
  7. He provides everything they need

David also told what would happen to those who didn’t acknowledge JEHOVAH.

  1. He is against those who do evil
  2. He cuts off every memory of them
  3. He condemns the wicked
  4. He slays the wicked
  5. They suffer from lack

David also showed what would take place when Yeshuwa hung on the cross – none of His bones would be broken.

Given the lists of what JEHOVAH will do both for the righteous and the unrighteous, how do you treat Him? As Christians, you see JEHOVAH’S promises to His people. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, seven promises contained here became yours. Not by right or entitlement, but because you committed yourself to trust Yeshuwa for everything you need. Yet many Christians who claim these promises claim them as their right and become haughty and let everyone who works in any capacity in Yeshuwa’s work know their superiority over them.

These promises are yours to claim, not to boast or hold it over other Christians, but to show a humbleness of spirit and do your work as pleasing to Yeshuwa. When you do, you will see His blessings in your life in everything you do for Him because you trust Him to provide everything you need.

What is your attitude in Yeshuwa? Examine your life and humble yourself before Him.

Let’s pray: Father, keep me humble before You. When I show a haughty spirit, show me so I can repent and receive Your blessings on my life and not Your punishment. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
