Day 143 – Repentance
Psalm 44:1 (To the Chief Musician. A Contemplation of the sons of Korah.) We heard with our ears, O Elohiym, our fathers told us, the deeds You did in their days, in days of old: 2 You drove out the nations with Your hand, but them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out. 3 For they did not gain possession of the land by their sword, nor did their arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them. 4 You are my Melek, O Elohiym, command victories for Jacob. 5 Through You we will push down our enemies; through Your name we will trample those who revolt against us. 6 For I will not trust in my bow, nor will my sword save me. 7 However, You saved us from our enemies and put to shame those who hated us. 8 In Elohiym we boast throughout the day and praise Your name forever. Selah
9 However, You cast us off and put us to shame, and You do not go out with our armies. 10 You make us turn back from the enemy, and those who hate us took spoil for themselves. 11 You gave us up like sheep intended for food and scattered us among the nations. 12 You sell Your people for next to nothing and are not enriched by selling them. 13 Our neighbors reproach us; we are a scorn and a derision to everyone around us. 14 You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples. 15 My dishonor is before me, and the shame of my face covers me, 16 because of the voice of him who reproaches and reviles, because of the enemy and the avenger.
17 Everything came upon us; but we did not forget You, nor did we deal falsely with Your covenant. 18 Our heart did not turn back, nor did our steps depart from Your way; 19 but You broke us in the place of jackals and covered us with the shadow of death. 20 If we had forgotten the name of our Elohiym, or stretched out our hands to a foreign elohiym, 21 Would not Elohiym search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart. 22 Yet for Your sake they kill us throughout the day; they account us as sheep for the slaughter. 23 Awake! Why do You sleep, O Adonay? Arise! Do not cast us off forever. 24 Why do You hide Your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression? 25 For our soul is bowed to the dust, our body clings to the ground. 26 Arise for our help and redeem us for Your mercies’ sake.

When difficult days come, people remember what it was like in good times. They recount what they did, what they had, and where they lived. They question each other about why bad times came to them. They want to see good times again.
The sons of Korah told how Elohiym helped them against their enemies in days of old. They asked Him why He brought trouble on them, why they were in exile. They told Him they didn’t forget Him or His mercy. They wanted Elohiym’s favor on their lives again.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you committed your life to Him. Yet too often, Christians return to their old habits, and find themselves, not living the life they expected as Christians, but under bondage again to Satan. Only when you realize your captivity, do you pray and seek Yeshuwa’s face and ask Him to free you from Satan’s hold on you. You remind Him that you are His child and ask for His mercy and favor in your life.
Israel and Judah found themselves in exile because they turned away from Elohiym, away from His covenant with Him. Yet not everyone turned away from Him. Korah and his sons didn’t turn away from Him and prayed for His mercy and redemption.
You need to remember your life as a Christian, how Yeshuwa met your needs and took care of you. When you remember, and turn your heart to Him, praying and asking for His forgiveness, then He will hear you and help you. He will free you from your bondage, and defeat Satan.
Satan wants to keep you in bondage. Yeshuwa wants to free you. He wants you to remember your commitment to Him and repent so He can free you and you can live the life He intends for you. Only genuine repentance frees you from Satan’s hold on you and brings you back into right standing with Yeshuwa.
Repent and call on Him today.
Let’s pray: Father, I am a sinner. My sin keeps me in bondage and away from You. Forgive me, heal my relationship with You so I can know Your love for me as I once did. You alone are my light and my salvation. I trust You. Let my praise come before You as it once did and let me see Your salvation in my life and know You are with me to heal and forgive. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
