Life is filled with favorite moments. It’s hard to choose just one. However, my favorite moments always involve my family.
In the early days of my marriage there was a day when my husband got spontaneous and we packed up the kids and food and headed to a national park in Southern California. We lived in San Diego at the time. One person missing from the adventure was my son, pictured here because he hadn’t arrived on the scene yet. It was my older two children.
It was a beautiful day, the park was void of other people enjoying the day. However, it was perfect for us. It was a day totally dedicated to family. No other day in the entire time I was married compared to that day. It was perfect.
The park had many trees. It might have been a National Forest. There was a stream flowing through the area we chose for our little picnic. I remember my husband building a small dam on the stream with the help of my older son. It was so peaceful. I gathered huge pine cones and took two of them home. They decorated my home for many years. They’re gone now, but not the memories.
The saddest part of the day was going home. I often wanted to repeat my husband’s spontaneous action. However, it never happened again. I’m glad I had that one day and the memories they evoke of a perfect day.
