Day 148 – Path of Life

Psalm 49:1 (To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.) Hear this, everyone; give ear, inhabitants of the world, 2 both low and high, rich and poor together. 3 My mouth will speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart will give me understanding. 4 I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will disclose my dark saying on the harp. 5 Why should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity at my heels surrounds me?

6 Those who trust in their wealth and boast in the multitude of their riches, 7 none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to Elohiym a ransom for him— 8 for the redemption of their souls is costly, and it will cease forever— 9 that he should continue to live eternally and not see the Pit. 10 For he sees wise men die; likewise, the fool and the senseless person perish, and leave their wealth to others. 11 Their inner thought is that their houses will last forever, their dwelling places throughout generations; they call their lands after their names. 12 Nevertheless man, though in honor, does not remain; he is like the beasts that perish. 13 This is the way of those who are foolish, and of their posterity who approve of their sayings. Selah 14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death will feed on them; the upright will have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty will be consumed in the grave, far from their dwelling.

15 However, Elohiym will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, for He will receive me. Selah 16 Do not be afraid when one becomes rich, when the glory of his house is increased; 17 for when he dies, he will carry nothing away; his glory will not descend after him. 18 Though while he lives, he blesses himself (For men will praise you when you do well for yourself), 19 he will go to the generation of his fathers; they will never see light. 20 A man who is in honor, yet does not understand, is like the beasts that perish.

God’s names:

Elohiym – Supreme God

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Redeemer

When you see people going down the wrong path in life, you try to reason with them, however, you know they won’t listen to you but will continue to do what they want.

The sons of Korah saw how the people strayed from Elohiym and tried to instruct them, but they would not listen until it was too late, and Elohiym sent them into exile. He tried to tell them there was no redemption for their soul because they acted against Elohiym. However, he also told them that Elohiym would redeem his soul because he followed Him.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

Nothing good comes from a life not given to Elohiym.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, it’s because you listened to what someone told you about Yeshuwa and the life He could give you. You stepped off the destructive path and found the path of life.

Matthew 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. (NKJV)

John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (NKJV)

When you listen to what Elohiym’s Word says, spending time with Him daily, praying, going to church, and Bible study, you will not stray from the path leading to eternal life. You won’t go to the Pit as the sons of Korah tried to tell the people they would do if they didn’t change their lifestyle and follow Elohiym. You will spend eternity with Yeshuwa in heaven.

What does your life look like? Whose voice do you hear? What path do you follow? If you’re listening to the voice of the world, it’s time to change and listen to Yeshuwa who alone gives eternal life. Everything else you do will amount to nothing because you can’t take anything with you when you die.

Let’s pray: Father, let me always hear Your voice speaking to me so I will not stray from You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
