Day 150 – Forgiveness
Psalm 51:1 (To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.) Have mercy upon me, O Elohiym, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. 4 Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight—that You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when You judge. 5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me. 6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. 8 Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones You broke may rejoice. 9 Hide Your face from my sins and blot out my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O Elohiym, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Qodesh Ruwach from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me by Your generous Ruwach. 13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will be converted to You.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O Elohiym, the Elohiym of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of Your righteousness. 15 O Adonay, open my lips, and my mouth will show forth Your praise. 16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of Elohiym are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—these, O Elohiym, You will not despise. 18 Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion; build the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then You will be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering; then they will offer bulls on Your altar.

Did you ever try to cover up something you did wrong? You hoped no one saw what you did. Many people hope to get away with their crimes, whether they’re small indiscretions against their friends or family, or crimes deserving court sentences.
David found out he couldn’t hide his transgressions from Elohiym. Nathan came to him and told him what would happen because he sinned with Bathsheba. In that moment, David knew he could hide nothing from Elohiym and confessed his sin to Him and asked for His forgiveness.
Christians too hope to hide their wrongdoing. Ministers try to hide their faults from their congregations, people who work in ministry try to hide their actions from those they work with in ministry, and you, what are you hiding from those around you and especially from Yeshuwa.
You might hide your sins from your fellow Christians, but you can never hide them from Yeshuwa. You will always be found out and brought before other Christians, or a judge if your crime is serious.
When found out, David prayed and asked for forgiveness from Elohiym. He acknowledged that his sin was against Elohiym alone.
Your sin is against Yeshuwa. You hurt the body when you sin, but you bring guilt and shame against yourself until you confess your sin with a true repentant heart.
David said the sacrifice of a broken and contrite spirit Elohiym would not despise. What do you need to confess? Don’t waste time. Pray and let Yeshuwa wipe out your sin and forgive you of every wrongdoing.
Let’s pray: Father, I am a sinner, and my sin is always before You. Forgive me and show me Your lovingkindness again. Let me feel the cleansing power of Your forgiveness. Wash me and I will be clean. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
