Day 151 – Mercy

Psalm 52:1 (To the Chief Musician. A Contemplation of David when Doeg the Edomite went and told Saul, and said to him, “David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.”) Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of Elohiym endures continually. 2 Your tongue devises destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. 3 You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah

4 You love devouring words, you deceitful tongue. 5 Elohiym will likewise destroy you forever; He will take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and uproot you from the land of the living. Selah

6 The righteous also will see and fear, and will laugh at him, saying, 7 “Here is the man who did not make Elohiym his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.” 8 However, I am like a green olive tree in the house of Elohiym; I trust in the mercy of Elohiym forever and ever. 9 I will praise You forever, because You did it; and in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for it is good.

God’s names:

Elohiym – Supreme God

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Goodness

Destroyer

Merciful

Strength

Do you ever wonder why people want to hurt others and cause trouble?

David saw Doeg’s wickedness. He also knew Elohiym would destroy him. David knew the outcome of both those who stood against Elohiym and those who trusted Him. He trusted in Elohiym’s mercy and praised Him for His goodness.

As Christians, you don’t need to wonder what will happen to those who practice deceit and wear wickedness like a garment. You know Yeshuwa will deal with them. He will destroy them. You only need to praise Him because He will keep you safe even when Satan determines evil against you.

What problems do you face? Give it to Yeshuwa. Let Him take care of the wickedness in the world while you give yourself to prayer and praise.

Let’s pray: Father, Satan determines evil against me. Keep me safe from his evil schemes as I praise and worship You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
