Day 152 – Commitment

Psalm 53:1 (To the Chief Musician. Set to “Mahalath.” A Contemplation of David.) The fool has said in his heart, “There is no Elohiym.” They are corrupt and have done abominable iniquity; there is none who does good. 2 Elohiym looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek Elohiym. 3 Every one of them has turned aside; they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one. 4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon Elohiym? 5 There they are in great fear where no fear was, for Elohiym scattered the bones of him who encamps against you; You have put them to shame, because Elohiym despised them. 6 Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When Elohiym brings back the captivity of His people, Let Jacob rejoice, and Israel be glad.

God’s character:

Sovereign

In my grandparents’ generation, people attended church regularly. Today church attendance has declined. According to the 2024 church attendance statistics, 39% of Americans attend church twice a month.

David said those who don’t seek Elohiym are fools. What is common today, was common during his lifetime. People didn’t seek Elohiym then and still don’t today.

Can a person claim to be a Christian if they don’t go to church, pick up their Bible, or spend time in Yeshuwa’s Word? Can a person call themselves Christians if the most important thing in their lives is recreation, sleeping in on Sunday morning, and give no thought to Yeshuwa on Sunday or any other day?

Paul gave an argument to the Romans about faith in Yeshuwa, citing what David said here.

Romans 3:10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 there is none who understands; there is none who seeks after Theos. 12 They have all turned aside; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one.”

Are you among the 39% who attend church, read your Bible, attend Bible study, pray, and seek Yeshuwa’s face?

When Solomon dedicated the temple to JEHOVAH, He answered Solomon’s prayer with a condition.

2 Chronicles 7:12 Then JEHOVAH appeared to Solomon by night and said to him: “I heard your prayer and chose this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

What does your life look like? Do you need healing? Do you need to humble yourself before Yeshuwa and seek forgiveness? What about your land? Does it grow only thistles?

When you don’t seek Yeshuwa daily, every area of your life is affected by your complacency to Him. If you call yourself a Christian, if Yeshuwa is your Savior and Lord, you should be in church or at least listening to the sermons from your church if you cannot attend due to physical limitations. You should pray daily. Look for online Bible studies if you cannot attend one. You need to meet with other believers to keep your faith strong and keep Satan from harming or destroying your walk in Christos Iesous.

It isn’t in our nature to seek Yeshuwa. He seeks us. He stands outside your door and knocks. He doesn’t intrude, but He will come in and abide with us if we open the door.

Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. (NKJV)

1 John 4:19 We love Him because He first loved us. (NKJV)

You cannot love Yeshuwa on your own. His Pneuma must draw you to Him. When you allow His Hagios Pneuma to work in your heart, then you will accept Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord.

Don’t be a fool and say there is no Elohiym. Instead, let the Word of Yeshuwa dwell in your life, in the breath you breathe, in everything you do so people will know you belong to Yeshuwa and He belongs to you.

Let’s pray: Father, let Your love shine in me so people will know I belong to You. Let me open Your Word daily and hear You talking to me. Show me the path You laid out for me and keep my feet from straying. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
