Day 154 – Prayer

Psalm 55:1 (To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Contemplation of David.) Give ear to my prayer, O Elohiym, and do not hide Yourself from my supplication. 2 Attend to me and hear me; I am restless in my complaint, and moan noisily, 3 because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked; for they bring down trouble upon me, and in wrath they hate me. 4 My heart is severely pained within me, and the terrors of death have fallen upon me. 5 Fearfulness and trembling come upon me, and horror overwhelmed me. 6 So I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. 7 Indeed, I would wander far off and remain in the wilderness. Selah 8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.”

9 Destroy, O Adonay, and divide their tongues, for I have seen violence and strife in the city. 10 Day and night they go around it on its walls; iniquity and trouble are also in the middle of it. 11 Destruction is in its midst; oppression and deceit do not depart from its streets. 12 For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; then I could hide from him. 13 But it was you, a man my equal, my companion and my acquaintance. 14 We took sweet counsel together and walked to the house of Elohiym in the throng. 15 Let death seize them; let them go down alive into hell, for wickedness is in their dwellings and among them.

16 As for me, I will call upon Elohiym, and JEHOVAH will save me. 17 Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He will hear my voice. 18 He redeemed my soul in peace from the battle against me, for there were many against me. 19 Elohiym will hear, and afflict them, even He who abides from of old. Selah because they do not change, therefore, they do not fear Elohiym. 20 He put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; he broke his covenant. 21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords. 22 Cast your burden on JEHOVAH, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved. 23 However, You, O Elohiym, will bring them down to the pit of destruction; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days; but I will trust in You.

What do you do when your friends and family members are your enemies?

David didn’t only have enemies at war with him; he found enemies among his friends and family. When he did, he prayed to Elohiym to come against them.

As Christians, you need to be careful about whom you trust. Even Yeshuwa had an enemy among His disciples. Judas was with Yeshuwa for three years and then betrayed Him to the chief priests with a kiss.

David said there was only one thing you can do: trust in JEHOVAH. When you put your faith and trust in Yeshuwa, He will lead you to people you can trust and keep you safe from your enemies. You also need to pray for your enemies. When you do, Yeshuwa will bless you.

Matthew 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You will love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 However, I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 If you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore, you will be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

David prayed for his enemies. He prayed for Elohiym to take care of them, to come against them, and destroy them. Pray for Yeshuwa’s will to be done against your enemies. Pray because Satan causes people to come against you, even those you count as friends. Let Yeshuwa take care of them. You praise Yeshuwa for keeping you safe from your enemies, even enemies among your friends and family.

Let’s pray: Father, when Satan comes against me through my friends and family members, let my prayer be heard in Your courts for them. Let me pray for them and not take vengeance on them myself. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
