Day 155 – Deliverance
Psalm 56:1 (To the Chief Musician. Set to “The Silent Dove in Distant Lands.” A Michtam of David when the Philistines captured him in Gath.) Be merciful to me, O Elohiym, for man would swallow me up; fighting throughout the day he oppresses me. 2 My enemies would hound me throughout the day, for there are many who fight against me, O Marowm. 3 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. 4 In Elohiym (I will praise His word), in Elohiym I put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? 5 Throughout the day they twist my words; their thoughts are against me for evil. 6 They gather, they hide, they mark my steps, when they lie in wait for my life. 7 Will they escape by iniquity? In anger cast down the peoples, O Elohiym!
8 You number my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your book? 9 When I cry out to You, then my enemies will turn back; this I know, because Elohiym is for me. 10 In Elohiym (I will praise His word), In JEHOVAH (I will praise His word), 11 in Elohiym I put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? 12 Vows made to You are binding upon me, O Elohiym; I will render praises to You, 13 for You delivered my soul from death. You kept my feet from falling, that I may walk before Elohiym in the light of the living?

People learn to defend themselves early in life. As children they faced bullies on the playground and then in the workplace as adults. Someone always tried to take credit for the work they did. If they didn’t learn how to defend themselves, they would never succeed in work or their life.
David found himself surrounded by his enemies when he found himself among the Philistines. To keep from being killed, he changed his appearance and appeared mad before the king. He trusted Elohiym to keep him safe among his enemies.
1 Samuel 21:11 The servants of Achish said to him, “Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing of him to one another in dances, saying: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands’?” 12 Now David took these words to heart, and was much afraid of Achish the king of Gath. 13 Therefore, he changed his behavior before them, feigned madness in their hands, scratched on the doors of the gate, and let his saliva fall on his beard. 14 Then Achish said to his servants, “Look, you see the man is insane. Why have you brought him to me? 15 “Have I need of madmen, that you brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? Will this fellow come into my house?”
Many times, Christians find themselves in situations they cannot control. When you find yourselves surrounded by life’s bullies, the only thing you can do is pray and trust Yeshuwa to deliver you from your enemies as David did. Satan will do everything he can to destroy you. However, Yeshuwa always makes a way for you. In David’s case, he pretended madness so Achish wouldn’t kill him.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but Theos is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Yeshuwa always provides a way for you to come against Satan. You need to trust Him, pray, and let Him work out His victory in your life.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for coming to my aid when Satan comes against me to destroy me and the work You gave me. Let me praise You for keeping me safe and delivering me from Satan’s clutches. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
