Taking care of one self covers three parts of your body: Body, Soul, and Spirit.
I take care of my body with daily exercise. I walk either on the trail or in the hallways. I prefer the trail. I get fresh air and Vitamin D, which I usually don’t think about. I go to bed at a decent hour and try to get a good night’s sleep. My usual amount of sleep is between 5-7 hours a night.
I take care of my soul by reading the Bible daily. I also go to Bible study every week at a friend’s church, and twice a month here. I also head the prayer time in the lounge on the third floor. I also go to church every week. Surrounding myself with other believers is healthy for my soul.
I take care of my spirit by keeping my mind free of junk. I read books that enhance my life with good moral values. I do the same with the movies and television shows I watch. They say: garbage in, garbage out. I keep my mind free of garbage that would hurt and devalue me.
Self-care is more than keeping the body clean, eating what’s good for you, and wearing nice clothes. It’s keeping every part of your body healthy: Body, Soul, and Spirit
