Day 164 – Praise

Psalm 65:1 (To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. A Song.) Praise is awaiting You, O Elohiym, in Zion; and to You the vow will be performed. 2 O You who hear prayer, to You everyone will come. 3 Iniquities prevail against me; as for our transgressions, You will provide atonement for them. 4 Blessed is the man You choose, and cause to approach You, that he may dwell in Your courts. We will be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple.

5 By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O Elohiym of our salvation, You who are the confidence of the ends of the earth, and of the far-off seas; 6 who established the mountains by His strength, being clothed with power; 7 You who still the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the peoples.

8 They also who dwell in the farthest parts are afraid of Your signs; You make the outgoings of the morning and evening rejoice. 9 You visit the earth and water it, You enrich it; the river of Elohiym is full of water; You provide their grain, for so You prepared it. 10 You water its ridges, You settle its furrows; You make it soft with showers, You bless its growth. 11 You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance. 12 They drop on the pastures of the wilderness, and the little hills rejoice on every side. 13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered with grain; they shout for joy, they also sing.

Who do you give credit for everything you enjoy? Many people credit their ability to achieve everything they accomplish. Or they credit the people who made it possible to achieve their goals.

David praised Elohiym for everything he had and enjoyed. He praised Elohiym for the small things he noticed, the stillness of the sea, the flocks on the hills, the beauty of His creation, and for hearing him when he prayed and praised Him.

Do you give Yeshuwa the same credit for everything you possess? Are you grateful for the small things as well as the big things in your life? Do you sing His praises? Do you worship Him with a joyful heart? Or as I see many Christians, do you forget what you have and see only the trouble in your life? Troubles vanish when you praise Yeshuwa and give Him credit for everything He gave you.

The disciples took their eyes off Yeshuwa when they saw the winds and waves crashing over the sides of their boat. They saw the tumult and only looked to Him to help bale the water from the boat. They didn’t expect Him to calm the storm.

Mark 4:35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. Other little boats were also with Him. 37 A great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 However, He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. They woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” and the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 However, He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 They feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

When you praise Yeshuwa, He will calm the storms in your life too and cause them to vanish. You have nothing to fear. David knew the provision Elohiym provided in everything in his life and praised Him in every circumstance. When you take your eyes off your trouble and praise Yeshuwa, He will calm the storms in your life too.

What are you grateful for in your life? Give Him praise.

Let’s pray: Father, I give You praise for everything You have given me. I rejoice in my salvation. Let me praise You in every situation in my life, good and bad because I know You will bring me through the storm and cause me to see Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
