Day 167 – God’s Name

Psalm 68:1 (To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. A Song.) Let Elohiym arise, let His enemies be scattered; let those also who hate Him flee before Him. 2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of Elohiym. 3 However, let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before Elohiym; yes, let them rejoice exceedingly. 4 Sing to Elohiym, sing praises to His name; extol Him who rides on the clouds, by His name Yahh, and rejoice before Him. 5 A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is Elohiym in His holy habitation. 6 Elohiym sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

7 O Elohiym, when You went out before Your people, when You marched through the wilderness, Selah 8 the earth shook; the heavens also dropped rain at the presence of Elohiym; Sinai itself moved at the presence of Elohiym, the Elohiym of Israel. 9 You, O Elohiym, sent a plentiful rain, whereby You confirmed Your inheritance, when it was weary. 10 Your congregation dwelt in it; You, O Elohiym, provided from Your goodness for the poor. 11 The Lord gave the word; great was the company of those who proclaimed it: 12 “Kings of armies flee, they flee, and she who remains at home divides the spoil. 13 Though you lie down among the sheepfolds, you will be like the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.” 14 When the Shadday scattered kings in it, it was white as snow in Zalmon.

15 A mountain of Elohiym is the mountain of Bashan; a mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan. 16 Why do you fume with envy, you mountains of many peaks? This is the mountain which Elohiym desires to dwell in; yes, Adonay will dwell in it forever. 17 The chariots of Elohiym are twenty thousand, even thousands of thousands; Adonay is among them as in Sinai, in the Holy Place. 18 You ascended on high, You led captivity captive; You received gifts among men, even from the rebellious, that Yahh Elohiym might dwell there. 19 Blessed be Adonay, who daily loads us with benefits, the El of our salvation! Selah 20 Our El is the El of salvation; and to Y@hovih Adonay belong escapes from death. 21 But Elohiym will wound the head of His enemies, the hairy scalp of the one who still goes on in His trespasses.

22 Adonay said, “I will bring back from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea, 23 that your foot may crush them in blood, and the tongues of your dogs may have their portion from your enemies.” 24 They have seen Your procession, O Elohiym, the procession of my El, my Melek, into the sanctuary. 25 The singers went before, the players on instruments followed; among them were the maidens playing timbrels. 26 Bless Elohiym in the congregations, Adonay, from the fountain of Israel. 27 There is little Benjamin, their leader, the princes of Judah and their company, the princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali. 28 Your Elohiym has commanded your strength; strengthen, O Elohiym, what You did for us. 29 Because of Your temple at Jerusalem, kings will bring presents to You. 30 Rebuke the beasts of the reeds, the herd of bulls with the calves of the people, till everyone submits himself with pieces of silver. Scatter the people who delight in war. 31 Envoys will come out of Egypt; Ethiopia will stretch out her hands to Elohiym.

32 Sing to Elohiym, you kingdoms of the earth; oh, sing praises to Adonay, Selah 33 to Him who rides on the heaven of heavens, which were from old! Indeed, He sends out His voice, a mighty voice. 34 Ascribe strength to Elohiym; His excellence is over Israel, and His strength is in the clouds. 35 O Elohiym, You are more awesome than Your holy places. The El of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people. Blessed be Elohiym!

When you see your enemies crushed, when war goes in your favor, you sing songs of joy and thanksgiving.

David saw how Adonay brought victory to Israel and rejoiced with thanksgiving and praise for everything Elohiym did for His people. David used every name given to Elohiym in his praise for what He did for His people. He also extoled Adonay’s character and blessed Him who defends the widows and takes care of the fatherless.

When was the last time you praised Yeshuwa for everything He does for you? Most Christians relegate a couple of names to Him and don’t consider the many names He has. When you sing, sing His name, Adonay. Give power to Him who brings you through every battle. Let Him know He is your El, your Shadday. Only He has the power to save you. Only He will fight for you against your enemy, Satan, and defeat him. Only El, your great El, who parted the Red Sea for His people, who stopped the mouths of the lions for Daniel, who set His inheritance in the Promised Land and gave them a country that wasn’t theirs and now calls it theirs alone. Rejoice in Yahh, praise His name, Elohiym, give glory to your Melek. He will do for you as He does for His people. He will go before you into battle. He will cause your enemies to live in peace with you. There is nothing He won’t do for you when you praise Him. Yeshuwa is your Savior, your Adonay, your El. Praise His name who lives forever and ever.

Let’s pray: Father, You are my El, my Adonay, my praise in the night, my song in the morning. You are my defender, my strength, my everything. Let me bring my songs of praise to You every day and acknowledge you as my King and my God. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
