Day 176 – Prayer

Psalm 77:1 (To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.) I cried out to Elohiym with my voice—to Elohiym with my voice; and He gave ear to me. 2 In the day of my trouble I sought Adonay; my hand stretched out in the night without ceasing; my soul refused to be comforted. 3 I remembered Elohiym and was troubled; I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah 4 You hold my eyelids open; I am so troubled I cannot speak. 5 I considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. 6 I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, and my spirit makes diligent search. 7 Will Adonay cast off forever? Will He be favorable no more? 8 Has His mercy ceased forever? Has His promise failed forevermore? 9 Has El forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? Selah 10 I said, “This is my anguish; but I will remember the years of the right hand of the Elyown.”

11 I will remember the works of YAHH; I will remember Your wonders of old. 12 I will also meditate on Your work and talk of Your deeds. 13 Your way, O Elohiym, is in the sanctuary; who is so great an El as our Elohiym? 14 You are the El who does wonders; You declared Your strength among the peoples. 15 Your arm redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah 16 The waters saw You, O Elohiym; The waters saw You; they were afraid; the depths also trembled. 17 The clouds poured out water; the skies sent out a sound; Your arrows also flashed about. 18 The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and shook. 19 Your way was in the sea, Your path in the great waters, and Your footsteps were not known. 20 You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

What did you do when your life became so overwhelming that you spent sleepless nights? You wondered if you would ever get relief from your troubles. Help seemed a long way off.

Asaph felt troubled and spent sleepless nights praying to Adonay. He recalled Elohiym’s graciousness, His tender mercies, and favor. He knew Elohiym could help him, He had helped His people in the past. He would do it again.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Adonay, Satan came against you daily. His purpose is to bring trouble and temptation to your life so you will give up your faith in Yeshuwa and return to your former life. What do you do? Do you spend sleepless nights in prayer as Asaph did? Do you remember Yeshuwa’s tender mercies and promises? Do you remind Him about His promise to take care of you when Satan attacks you?

Help is a prayer away. You only need to say Yeshuwa’s name to see Satan flee from you. You only need to remember how He helped you in the past to know He will help you again.

Satan prowls around like a roaring lion seeking to devour you. However, your faith, as small as a mustard seed can send him fleeing. What troubles has Satan brought your way? Pray, seek Yeshuwa’s face and watch your troubles disappear.

Let’s pray: Father, too often I feel overwhelmed because Satan attacks me from every side. My nights become sleepless. He causes me to forget to pray. Quiet my soul, Lord, so I can pray and hear Your voice answer me in the night season. Take my trouble and melt it like the morning dew and let me see Your answer as Satan flees from me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
