Day 179 – Restoration

Psalm 80:1 (To the Chief Musician. Set to “The Lillies.” A Testimony of Asaph. A Psalm.) Give ear, O Ra’ah of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who dwell between the cherubim, shine forth! 2 Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, stir up Your strength, and come and save us! 3 Restore us, O Elohiym; cause Your face to shine, and we will be saved! 4 O JEHOVAH Elohiym of hosts, how long will You be angry against the prayer of Your people? 5 You fed them with the bread of tears and gave them tears to drink in great measure. 6 You made us a strife to our neighbors, and our enemies laugh among themselves. 7 Restore us, O Elohiym of hosts; cause Your face to shine, and we will be saved!

8 You brought a vine out of Egypt; You cast out the nations and planted it. 9 You prepared room for it, and caused it to take deep root, and it filled the land. 10 The hills were covered with their shadow, and the mighty cedars with its boughs. 11 She sent out her boughs to the Sea, and her branches to the River. 12 Why did You break down her hedges, so everyone who passes pluck her fruit? 13 The boar out of the woods uproots it, and the wild beast of the field devours it. 14 Return, we beseech You, O Elohiym of hosts; look down from heaven and see and visit this vine; 15 and the vineyard which Your right hand planted, and the branch You made strong for Yourself. 16 It is burned with fire; it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of Your countenance. 17 Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself. 18 Then we will not turn back from You; revive us, and we will call upon Your name. 19 Restore us, O JEHOVAH Elohiym of hosts; cause Your face to shine, and we will be saved!

God’s names:

Ra’ah – Pastor, Shepherd

Elohiym – Supreme God

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Strength

Restorer

Savior

Have you ever felt abandoned by the person who claimed to love and care about you? What did you do? Did you seek their counsel to find out why they abandoned you?

Asaph beseeched Elohiym because he felt abandoned. He wanted Elohiym to look kindly on His people again and restore them to their former position. Asaph asked Elohiym to shine His face on them again, to revive them. Then His people would call on His name again.

We live in a time when Elohiym isn’t the first person people think about. People go about their lives doing whatever they want without regard to how it affects those around them. Christians are supposed to set the example for the world. They claim Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord yet walk in the ways of the world. Then they wonder where Yeshuwa is and why He isn’t helping them or defending them against their enemies. Only when things get bad enough will Christians return to Yeshuwa and ask Him to restore them to their place in His love.

Yeshuwa is your Ra’ah, your leader and guide through this life. He promised to take care of you. However, you need to be obedient to Him. You can’t expect to live like the world and see Yeshuwa’s blessings in your life. Yeshuwa doesn’t bless your wrong behavior. You need to return to Him with a repentant heart. Then He will forgive you and restore you to your position in Him.

You know what you need to do to receive Yeshuwa’s forgiveness and favor. Call on Him, worship Him, and give Him praise. Then you will see His revival in your life.

Let’s pray: Father, revive me, restore me in Your love and faithfulness. Let me know You did not abandon me. I repent of my sins against You and ask for Your forgiveness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
