Day 181 – Justice

Psalm 82:1 (A Psalm of Asaph.) Elohiym stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the elohiym. 2 How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked? Selah 3 Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4 Deliver the poor and needy; free them from the hand of the wicked. 5 They do not know, nor do they understand; they walk about in darkness; the foundations of the earth are unstable.

6 I said, “You are elohiym, and you are children of the Elyown. 7 However, you will die like men and fall like one of the princes.” 8 Arise, O Elohiym, judge the earth; for You will inherit the nations.

God’s names:

Elohiym – Supreme God

Elyown – Supreme Most High

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Judge

Defender

Deliverer

Just

No one wants those in authority to show partiality to criminals. Yet it happens every day. People you expect to get put in prison are free to walk the streets.

Asaph asked Elohiym how long He would allow the wicked to remain free while the poor and fatherless faced injustice at the hands of the wicked. He asked Elyown to judge the earth and bring justice because he knew that those who lived in wickedness would face His judgement when they died.

As Christians, you are no different in your requests to Yeshuwa when you see wickedness in every walk of life. People who kill, rape, steal, and destroy one another because it gives them a sadistic sense of purpose. You want Yeshuwa to bring His justice to His people, to defend those who acknowledge Him as their King and Elohiym. Your prayers ascend to heaven, hoping to see justice done.

What do you do when you see your prayers go unanswered? Do you give up and stop praying? Don’t! Yeshuwa hears every prayer and will answer them in His time. You will see justice for those who love Yeshuwa with their whole heart. Pray and keep praying. Never give up. The moment you give up, Satan wins.

Let’s pray: Father, I see so much injustice in the world. Nations fighting nations, brother fighting brother, the rich and wealthy exploiting the poor and needy. Bring Your justice to the nations, to our homes, to our communities. Let people know You are God and there is no other. Let me know You will defend me against those who come against me, and I will praise You and give You glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
