Day 188 – Faithfulness

Psalm 89:1 (A Contemplation of Ethan the Ezrahite.) I will sing of the mercies of JEHOVAH forever; with my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to every generation. 2 For I said, “Mercy will be built up forever; Your faithfulness You will establish in the heavens.”

3 “I made a covenant with My chosen, I swore to My servant David: 4 ‘Your seed I will establish forever and build up your throne to every generation.’” Selah

5 The heavens will praise Your wonders, O JEHOVAH, Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the saints. 6 For who in the heavens can be compared to JEHOVAH? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to JEHOVAH? 7 Elohiym is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by those around Him. 8 O JEHOVAH Elohiym of hosts, who is mighty like You, O YAHH? Your faithfulness also surrounds You. 9 You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, You still them. 10 You broke Rahab in pieces, as one who is slain; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm. 11 The heavens are Yours; the earth also is Yours; the world and its fullness, You founded them. 12 The north and the south, You created them; Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Your name. 13 You have a mighty arm; strong is Your hand, and high is Your right hand. 14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face.

15 Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O JEHOVAH, in the light of Your countenance. 16 In Your name they rejoice throughout the day, and in Your righteousness, they are exalted. 17 For You are the glory of their strength, and in Your favor our horn is exalted. 18 For our shield belongs to JEHOVAH, and our king to the Qadowsh of Israel.

19 Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one and said, “I give help to one who is mighty; I exalted one chosen from the people. 20 I found My servant, David; with My holy oil I anointed him, 21 with whom My hand will be established; also, My arm will strengthen him. 22 The enemy will not outwit him, nor the son of wickedness afflict him. 23 I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague those who hate him. 24 “However, My faithfulness and My mercy will be with him, and in My name his horn will be exalted. 25 Also, I will set his hand over the sea, and his right hand over the rivers. 26 He will cry to Me, “You are my Ab, My Elohiym, and the rock of my salvation.” 27 Also I will make him My firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. 28 My mercy I will keep for him forever, and My covenant will stand firm with him. 29 His seed also I will make to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven. 30 “If his sons forsake My law and do not walk in My judgments, 31 if they break My statutes and do not keep My commandments, 32 then I will punish their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. 33 Nevertheless, My lovingkindness I will not utterly take from him, nor allow My faithfulness to fail. 34 My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. 35 Once I swore by My holiness; I will not lie to David: 36 His seed will endure forever, and his throne as the sun before Me; 37 it will be established forever like the moon, even like the faithful witness in the sky.” Selah

38 However, You have cast off and abhorred, You have been furious with Your anointed. 39 You renounced the covenant of Your servant; You profaned his crown by casting it to the ground. 40 You broke down his hedges; You brought his strongholds to ruin. 41 Everyone who passes plunder him; he is a reproach to his neighbors. 42 You exalted the right hand of his adversaries; You made his enemies rejoice. 43 You also turned back the edge of his sword and did not sustain him in battle. 44 You made his glory cease and cast his throne down to the ground. 45 The days of his youth You shortened; You covered him with shame. Selah 46 How long, JEHOVAH? Will You hide Yourself forever? Will Your wrath burn like fire? 47 Remember how short my time is; for what futility have You created the children of men? 48 What man can live and not see death? Can he deliver his life from the power of the grave? Selah 49 Adonay, where are Your former loving kindnesses, which You swore to David in Your truth? 50 Remember, Adonay, the reproach of Your servants—how I bear in my bosom the reproach of many people, 51 with which Your enemies reproached, O JEHOVAH, with which they reproached the footsteps of Your anointed. 52 Blessed be JEHOVAH forevermore! Amen and Amen.

Do you know faithful people, people who exemplify traits of integrity in everything they do and say?

Ethan the Ezrahite, also brother to Heman and a Levite among the singers of Israel, spoke about the faithfulness of JEHOVAH Elohiym. He told about JEHOVAH’S mercy, righteousness, truth, and holiness. His lovingkindness knows no bounds; JEHOVAH’S faithfulness goes throughout every generation. No one can compare to JEHOVAH. He is Adonay, the Rock of Salvation.

Ethan then told how JEHOVAH chose David, His anointed and promised him that his seed would always be on the throne of Israel, even when they faltered in their obedience to Him, He promised He would not cut off his seed. Ethan also asked JEHOVAH how long He would be angry with His anointed and reminded Him that their lives were short.

As children of Yeshuwa, do you know His faithfulness? Do you display it in your life? Do you show compassion. Does His integrity live in your life? Do you wear His strength as an armor against Satan?

If you even one time called yourself a Christian, the world watches you and will judge you to see if you qualify as His child or if you only say but don’t show yourself to be His child.

When JEHOVAH chose David as His anointed, king of Israel, He said his enemies wouldn’t outwit him and He would be with him in battle.

As Yeshuwa’s child, He promised to be with you in every battle Satan brings against you. When you stand in His armor, Satan can do nothing to you. He stands defeated by the Word of your mouth and your testimony.

Revelation 12:11 “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. (NKJV)

If Yeshuwa is your Savior and Lord, Satan hates you and will come against you as often as he can to destroy you. Yeshuwa fights for you. However, if Yeshuwa is only a name you call yourself, but don’t live for Yeshuwa in word and deed, Satan will laugh at you and leave you alone. Yeshuwa also will not stand by you because you do not give yourself fully to Him.

Israel forsook JEHOVAH, and He sent them into exile. Ethan asked Him how long He would forsake His people. He reminded Him that they were dust and their lives were short.

When you realize the Rock of your Salvation is Yeshuwa, and He will defend you against Satan, and call on His name, and give yourself fully to Him, He will fight for you. Then you will see Satan crushed and every scheme come to nothing.

Give yourself fully to Him today and watch Him crush every scheme Satan devised against you.

Let’s pray: Father, I come humbly before You, confessing my sin of compromise. Strengthen my faith as I show myself faithful to You and bless me according to your lovingkindness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
