Day 189 – Life

Psalm 90:1 (A Prayer of Moses the man of Elohiym.) Adonay, You have been our dwelling place in every generation. 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are El. 3 You turn man to destruction, and say, “Return, O children of men.” 4 For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night. 5 You carry them away like a flood; they are like a sleep. In the morning, they are like grass which grows up: 6 In the morning it flourishes and grows up; in the evening it is cut down and withers.

7 For we have been consumed by Your anger, and by Your wrath we are terrified. 8 You set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. 9 For our days passed away in Your wrath; we finish our years like a sigh. 10 The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. 11 Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.

12 Therefore, teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. 13 Return, O JEHOVAH! How long? Have compassion on Your servants. 14 Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad throughout our days! 15 Make us glad according to the days in which You afflicted us, the years in which we saw evil. 16 Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your glory to their children. 17 And let the beauty of JEHOVAH our Elohiym be upon us and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.

God’s names:

Adonay – God’s proper name

El – Almighty God

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Elohiym – Supreme God

Yeshuwa – Jesus

Hagios Pneuma – Sacred, Holy, Violent Breath, Wind, Spirit

God’s character:

Anger

Wrath

Compassion

Mercy

No one knows how long they will live. When you visit a cemetery, you see a dash between the dates of birth and death, showing the length of one’s life.

Moses wrote this psalm, knowing firsthand Elohiym’s anger and wrath toward His people. He also saw Elohiym’s compassion and mercy. He asked Elohiym to regard them because their lives were short.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Adonay, your short life became more than the dash between the date of your birth and death. It became never-ending in His presence.

How do you live your life? Do you see Yeshuwa’s anger or know His mercy?

When Israel lived in the Wilderness for forty years, they saw an equal measure of JEHOVAH’S wrath for their disobedience and His mercy when they obeyed Him.

Many Christians wonder about their lives, why they see so much chaos and trouble in their lives. They long for Yeshuwa’s mercy and grace while doing whatever their heart desires. When you realize your obedience will bring Yeshuwa’s grace and mercy into your lives, you will see your troubles melt away. At the same time, you will also see Satan’s schemes mount against you. When you do, you know Yeshuwa will fight for you.

Life isn’t easy. It’s a mixture of good and evil. No one knew that better than Moses who lived with the cloud by day and the fire by night and saw JEHOVAH care for His people.

You have the cloud by day and fire by night in your life through the Hagios Pneuma living in you. When Satan comes against you, He will send him packing. You only need to call on His name.

Do you live in Yeshuwa’s grace and mercy or His wrath? Give Him praise and watch Him turn the evil in your life into a life of victory in Him.

Let’s pray: Father, only You know the length of my life. Let my life be one of obedience and watch You take care of me when Satan comes against me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
