Daily writing prompt
What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?

While my parents were alive, we gathered as a family on every holiday. I could not attend those gatherings until my husband got out of the military and we moved back home. One thing I noticed about every holiday gathering was how critical my parents were about me and my children. When my children were old enough, they refused to go to the holiday gatherings.

Since my parents died, my siblings and I no longer get together for holidays. We spend them with our families. No more criticism, resulting in anger. Now holidays are happier and the food tastes better, even though the food is much the same as when I grew up. Those traditions I will continue to enjoy.

What traditions do you no longer have? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.
