2 August – What I’m Thankful for Today

Good evening from Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. It’s a bit hazy, and the air quality isn’t good, but the temp is bearable at 81 F with a breeze.

It’s been a good day.

I’m thankful I finally got the lowdown from my housing caseworker yesterday. I AM NOT MOVING! For me, the rent limit for a single person is $1055, and that’s if I pay utilities. So the rent for the apartment must be less than that. The apartment I wanted includes a den, making it perfect for me so I could have an office for my desk and computer. It’s not to be. The rent alone is $1147 for that apartment. So, I’m not moving. It makes me happy because though I looked forward to the larger apartment, I wasn’t thrilled with packing and moving. I’m staying put. I’m telling the manager on Monday the news. I already told my son.

I’m thankful I took all the boxes I saved for packing down to the garbage this morning. Three trips of boxes in my little wagon and one of garbage. Done and Done. 👍Next up I call or go over to the thrift store to make an appointment for them to pick up some furniture I need to get rid of so it doesn’t look too cluttered in here. One thing I’m getting rid of is my computer desk. When I got it, it had sat in someone’s garage for over a year, and every so often it smells like the garage. Time for a new desk. I’ve been looking on Amazon. They have reasonable ones.

I’m thankful for the walk I got on the trail today. I saw a family of turkeys. Lots of little ones. I started clicking away. Here’s one of the pics I got of them.

I’m thankful I could be here and read your posts. You make my day just that much better.

    I’m glad you have found contentment in the home you have. The extra space would have been nice for you, but at least you don’t have to deal with packing up and moving. I got a really cute, small computer desk from Amazon a couple years ago. Perfect for my small space 🙂

      I only need to make this small space work for me. I’ve been here for four years next month. I came from a two-bedroom apartment and before that from my three-bedroom home with a basement. One bedroom is tight. I’m going to one of the thrift stores today to make arrangements to come and take a couple of pieces of furniture out of here. I’m always looking for ways to downsize.

      I have a computer desk on the cart at Amazon. As soon as this one is gone, I’ll order that one or if I find an even better one, then I’ll get that one. I’m really not finished looking until I hit the buy button.
