Day 199 – Praise and Thanksgiving

Psalm 100:1 (A Psalm of Thanksgiving.) Make a joyful shout to JEHOVAH, throughout the earth! 2 Serve JEHOVAH with gladness; come before His presence with singing. 3 Know that JEHOVAH, He is Elohiym; it is He who made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His name. 5 For JEHOVAH is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to every generation.

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Elohiym – Supreme God

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Good

Mercy

Truth

Many things cause people to celebrate—weddings, birthdays, graduations, sports victories, the list is endless.

The psalmist gave three reasons to praise JEHOVAH and give Him thanksgiving. He is good. He is merciful. His truth endures to every generation. The psalmist also told the people how they should come into His presence. With gladness, singing, and thanksgiving. Then he told the people what JEHOVAH did for people. He created them. They could not do it themselves. Therefore, they need to bless His name.

Many Christians can recite this psalm. It’s a favorite. It brings them to the height of celebration for what Yeshuwa is to them, their Savior, Redeemer, Shepherd, and provider.

When you go to church, how do you enter? Do you enter with a sense of expectation, joy, and celebration? Do you know you’re going to sing praises to Him and bless His name? Do you wait with expectation for what He will tell you through the sermon?

How do you prepare to come into His presence? Do you need to get into the ‘mood’ to worship Him, or are you always ready to praise Him? Do you need to remind yourself to be thankful, or are you always thankful for everything Yeshuwa provides for you?

Your relationship with Yeshuwa is everything or nothing. You either praise Him, or you don’t. You’re either thankful or you’re not. People know when you genuinely praise and worship Yeshuwa. They know when you’re thankful to Him for what He provided for you. Consider your relationship with Yeshuwa. Do you need to turn up the volume of your praise and thanksgiving?

Recommit your life to Yeshuwa today and give Him praise and thanksgiving for everything He did for you. Then when you go to church your praise will be genuine, infused with new energy, the energy of a thankful heart.

Let’s pray: Father, give me a thankful heart for everything You did and continue to do for me. Let me come into Your presence with joy and thanksgiving, praising You and blessing Your name. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
