Day 208 – Justice

Psalm 109:1 (To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.) Do not keep silent, O Elohiym of my praise! 2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful opened against me; they spoke against me with a lying tongue. 3 They also surrounded me with words of hatred and fought against me without a cause. 4 In return for my love they are my accusers, but I give myself to prayer. 5 Thus, they rewarded me with evil for good, and hatred for my love.

6 Set a wicked man over him and let an accuser stand at his right hand. 7 When he is judged, let him be found guilty, and let his prayer become sin. 8 Let his days be few and let another take his office. 9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. 10 Let his children always be vagabonds and beg; let them seek their bread also from their desolate places. 11 Let the creditor seize everything he has and let strangers plunder his labor. 12 Let there be none to extend mercy to him, nor let there be any to favor his fatherless children. 13 Let his posterity be cut off, and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. 14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before JEHOVAH and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. 15 Let them be always before JEHOVAH, that He may cut off the memory of them from the earth; 16 because he did not remember to show mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart. 17 As he loved cursing, so let it come to him; as he did not delight in blessing, so let it be far from him. 18 As he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, so let it enter his body like water, and like oil into his bones. 19 Let it be to him like the garment which covers him, and for a belt with which he girds himself continually. 20 Let this be JEHOVAH’S reward to my accusers, and to those who speak evil against my person.

21 However, You, O Y@HOVIH Adonay, deal with me for Your name’s sake; because Your mercy is good, deliver me. 22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. 23 I am gone like a shadow when it lengthens; I am shaken off like a locust. 24 My knees are weak through fasting, and my flesh is feeble from lack of fatness. 25 I also have become a reproach to them; when they look at me, they shake their heads. 26 Help me, O JEHOVAH my Elohiym! Oh, save me according to Your mercy, 27 that they may know that this is Your hand—that You, JEHOVAH, did it! 28 Let them curse, but You bless; when they arise, let them be ashamed, but let Your servant rejoice. 29 Let my accusers be clothed with shame and let them cover themselves with their own disgrace as with a mantle. 30 I will greatly praise JEHOVAH with my mouth; yes, I will praise Him among the multitude. 31 For He will stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those who condemn him.

God’s names:

Elohiym – Supreme God

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Y@HOVIH – God

Adonay – God’s proper name

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Merciful

Deliverer

When you saw only hate and discontent from people you considered your friends, did you want to see bad things happen to them?

David saw how his so-called friends treated him. He didn’t hold back on what he wanted Elohiym to do to those who hated him and treated him badly. He also asked JEHOVAH to bless him because he sought Him in prayer and fasting and gave himself wholly to Elohiym.

Many Christians won’t ask Yeshuwa to curse those who come against them. They rather turn the other cheek as Yeshuwa told them to do and bless their enemies as He taught the people. They wouldn’t think about praying for Yeshuwa to curse them. Yet, that is exactly what David did. He prayed for JEHOVAH’S judgment to come against them.

It isn’t wrong to ask Yeshuwa to bring harm to your enemies. He already knows how you feel about what people do to you. However, when you bring your requests before Him, pouring out your feelings to Him, then pray for your enemies as Yeshuwa taught you. Don’t hold back how you feel. It doesn’t do anyone any good when you do. Get your feelings into the open before Yeshuwa. Then you can pray for their salvation and blessing because your heart will have the heavy burden of their hatred eased against them.

Matthew 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You will love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 However, I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Pater in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore, you will be perfect, just as your Pater in heaven is perfect.”

Remember always, Yeshuwa knows how you feel about those who come against you. Pour out your heart to Him and then pray for their salvation and blessing in their life.

Let’s pray: Father, You alone know how Satan uses people to come against me. You know the hurt I suffer from them. Father, avenge me of their evil intentions, and bring to salvation those who intend wrong against me, breaking Satan’s hold on them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
