Okay, I’ll be honest. I don’t have a preparedness plan. Why? I don’t live in a place noted for severe weather, except for blizzards, but even they happen too infrequently for my taste. I told my son yesterday we need three blizzards this winter to make me happy. His look told me I was loony.
So, what would I do in the case there was an actual emergency in my life? Well, I’ll tell you what I won’t do – Panic. No, I won’t panic, just because I don’t have a plan doesn’t mean I would panic. I would listen to what the weather experts say to do and do it. First, though, I would pray. Then I would do whatever is necessary for my life and safety.
That’s it. I’ve been in situations before when life got testy. When living on Guam, typhoons are a regular occurrence. No problem. Wait out the storm inside and don’t go outside in the eye of the storm. No problem. Another problem living on Guam afforded was that rat snakes climbed inside the transformers and blew out the entire island. Fun times. Head for McDonald’s because they have a generator and you can at least eat until the power came on again. Or get out the Coleman stove and lantern and still eat and see until the power came on.
Life is full of emergencies. It’s best to listen to the experts and follow their expert advice. Don’t panic. Nothing good ever comes from panicking.
