What motivates me? From my youngest age, I felt rejected by the people who should have kept me safe from the bogeyman, given me encouragement when I failed. However, their rejection was my motivation.
When I was eight years old, I watched a favorite western series. I hated the episode I watched and told myself I could write it better. My motivation in that instance was a poorly written episode of Big Valley. I’ve seen that episode many times since and my reaction is still the same. I can write it better. Today, I probably could. It was the beginning of my becoming the author I am today.
I stood at the buffet with my brother and mother with our report cards in our hands. I was in fourth grade. My mother looked at my report card and told me I would never do better than the C I got. Then turned to my brother and told him he could do better than what he did. Motivation. I purposed in my heart to show them I wasn’t a failure in school. I graduated in the top third of my class.
Motivation led me into many different places, all to prove I am not who people thought I was. I experienced some failures. We all do. And yet, I have more successes than failures.
Motivation dogs my steps every day. I want to know more about my life as a Christian. I read and study my Bible every day. I attend Bible studies and read books recommended to me. My latest is Soul Care by Debra Fileta. I only just received it and have read only two chapters. I can only say how blessed I am to have listened to a friend who recommended it and why. I know I am not the same person I was 45 years ago when I accepted Jesus as my Savior and Lord. I also know I’m not the same as I will be tomorrow as I learn and grow in my faith daily.
Motivation also walks with me in my quest to lose weight and become the healthiest me I can be. I use two apps – Google Fit and a pedometer app to keep me on the path to total health. The pedometer app pushes me with various achievement levels. I have many achievements on this road to total health. Right now I have 86 days left before I achieve Super Pioneer. All I need to do to achieve this is to walk no less than 6000 steps a day. I do more than 6000 steps a day. I want to achieve with this app. The various achievements motivate me to keep moving.
Motivation comes from my children. They let me know they love me and I did the best I could to raise them when they were children. They are an inspiration for me.

Motivation comes from you. Your posts motivate me to write better, to keep writing. To be the best person I can be.
I’ve come a long way from that young girl pictured above to the woman I am today, a woman who believes with every breath I take in God who created me for His purpose. What is His purpose for me? To be the best me I can be, to live for Him, and trust Him in everything I do. God is my true motivator in everything I do.
