Future cities are seconds away. Cities have progressed since the dawn of time from prehistoric settings with walking trails, to wagon trails, to the roads we have today. The same is true about the buildings we live and work in. From primitive to what we know today.
The only constant in cities are the people. People haven’t changed. We are what God created us to be during creation.
So, with the imagination at work there are many models to choose from. We have the Jetson’s example with flying cars that fold up into a briefcase, and high rise apartment buildings that look alien in nature. Then there is the science fiction city of Eureka where the roads are perfect and can even help navigate cars. Not to mention the different Star Wars worlds and their cities. The imagination is a wonderful place to dream about what a city can look like.
My city would have perfectly paved roads that don’t deteriorate so you need to always fix them. The same with sidewalks. No uneven sidewalks that make a person trip, fall, and possibly break bones. I know that means eliminating the highway construction jobs. Though we could put that department to work creating new roads.
My city would have room for everyone with affordable housing. No more homelessness. That means everyone would work. There are as many types of jobs as there are people so that even people with handicaps can work. There would also be affordable housing for senior citizens.
Lots of free and affordable recreation with parks and gyms.
The key to my city is affordable and available.
What does your city look like? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.
